Upgrading from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 on a Cisco Unity 3.0 System

Task List for Upgrading from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000

Use the following task list to upgrade the Cisco Unity system correctly:

1. Disconnect Cisco Unity. See the "Disconnecting Cisco Unity from Exchange 5.5" section.

2. Upgrade from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000. Refer to the Microsoft website.

Caution Cisco TAC does not provide support for upgrading Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000.

3. If applicable, create Active Directory organizational units for users and distribution lists, and a mailbox store. See the "Creating Organizational Units and a Mailbox Store" section.

4. Reconnect Cisco Unity. See the "Directory Connection" section. Do the procedures for Exchange 2000.

Disconnecting Cisco Unity from Exchange 5.5

To disconnect Cisco Unity from Exchange 5.5

Step 1 On the Windows Start menu, click Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

Step 2 In the Currently Installed Programs list, click Unity Configuration.

Step 3 Click Remove.

Step 4 Close the Add/Remove Programs control panel.

Creating Organizational Units and a Mailbox Store

With Exchange 2000, users and distribution lists are created in a location that you specify. If you want users and distribution lists to be created in custom organizational units (OUs), create the OUs now. Both OUs need to be in the same domain, but they do not need to be in the same domain as the Cisco Unity server. For information on creating OUs, refer to Active Directory Users and Computers Help.

You also have the option to create a custom mailbox store as the default for subscribers that are added through the Cisco Unity Administrator or that are imported from a CSV file. For information on creating a custom mailbox store, refer to Exchange System Manager Help. (You configure Cisco Unity to use the mailbox store during Cisco Unity Setup.)

Adding Languages

The number of languages that can be used on a Cisco Unity system is a licensed feature. If you want to use more languages on the system, confirm that the number of languages on the system key is greater than the number of languages currently in use. If not, purchase an upgrade to the system key.

For information on making the newly added languages available for use, refer to the "Multiple Languages" chapter of the Cisco Unity System Administration Guide.

To add languages to Cisco Unity

Step 1 Log on to Windows by using an account that has the necessary rights. See the "Choosing the Windows Account Used for Installing Cisco Unity Software" section.

Step 2 Insert Cisco Unity Disc 1 in the CD-ROM drive.

Step 3 Browse to the root directory, and double-click Setup.exe.

Step 4 Follow the on-screen prompts until the System Key dialog box appears.

Step 5 If you are changing the number of licensed languages, in the System Key dialog box, click Update or Initialize License Settings from Update File.

Otherwise, skip to step Step 8.

Step 6 Insert the Cisco Unity Activation Code disk in drive A.

(When Cisco Unity was registered on Cisco.com, Cisco replied with an e-mail containing an attached file with an activation code for the system key. The instructions in the e-mail directed that the attached file be saved to a disk. For more information, see the "Cisco Unity Activation Code" section.)

Step 7 Browse to drive A, click the file on the disk, then click Open.

Step 8 Click Next.

Step 9 Follow the on-screen prompts until the Cisco Unity Languages dialog box appears.

Step 10 Choose the language(s) to install.

Australian English, New Zealand English, and Colombian Spanish are not available as text-to-speech (TTS) languages. To use one of these languages for your phone language, you must also install another language for your TTS language:

English (Australian)

Also install English (United States) for TTS.

English (New Zealand)

Also install English (United States) for TTS.

Spanish (Colombia)

Also install Spanish (Spain) for TTS.

TTS is not available in Norwegian.

Step 11 Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

Installing Service Packs for Third-Party Software

New service packs for Windows 2000 and other Microsoft software, as well as for other supported third-party software, may have been released after the Cisco Unity Installation Guide was published. Before installing a new service pack, check System Requirements, and Supported Hardware and Software to confirm that the service pack has been qualified by the Cisco Unity Quality Assurance department. The document is available on Cisco.com at http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_unity/sysreq/index.htm.

Adding, Changing, or Removing Voice Cards on a Cisco Unity 3.0 System

For information on adding IP ports or converting from analog lines to IP lines, see the Cisco Unity integration guide for your version of Cisco CallManager.

Task List for Adding, Changing, or Removing Voice Cards

Use the following task list to update the Cisco Unity system correctly:

1. If you are adding voice cards, purchase an upgrade for the system key.

The number of voice ports allowed on a Cisco Unity server is controlled by a setting on the system key. If the number of ports on the voice cards in the server is greater than the system key allows, only the number of ports specified on the system key will work.

2. Determine the current setting for the Dialogic quiet parameter. See the "To determine the current setting for the Dialogic quiet parameter" section on page 3-27.

3. Uninstall voice card software. See the "To remove Dialogic software (Windows 2000)" section on page 3-27.

4. Add, change, or remove the voice cards. See the "Installing Voice Cards" section.

5. If you are adding voice cards, and the number of ports is changing from 16 or fewer to more than 16, upgrade from MSDE 2000 to SQL Server 2000. See the "Upgrading from MSDE 2000 to SQL Server 2000" section.

6. If the Cisco Unity server still contains voice cards, rerun Cisco Unity Setup to reinstall voice card software. See the "Reinstalling Voice Card Software" section.

7. Reset the Dialogic quiet parameter. See the "To reset the Dialogic quiet parameter" section on page 3-46.

Upgrading from MSDE 2000 to SQL Server 2000

Cisco Unity systems of more than 16 ports require SQL Server 2000 instead of MSDE 2000.

Caution Cisco Unity systems with 16 voice ports or fewer are licensed only for MSDE 2000, not for SQL Server 2000. If you install SQL Server 2000 on systems with 16 ports or fewer, Cisco TAC will not provide support for the system.

To upgrade from MSDE 2000 to SQL Server 2000

Step 1 Log on to Windows.

Step 2 Exit the Cisco Unity software. For more information, see Appendix B, "Exiting and Starting the Cisco Unity Software and Server."

Step 3 Insert the Cisco Unity Data Store 2000 disc in the CD-ROM drive. If the compact disc does not run automatically, browse to the root directory, and double-click Autorun.exe.

Step 4 Click SQL Server 2000 Components.

Step 5 Click Install Database Server.

Step 6 In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

Step 7 In the Computer Name dialog box, click Next to accept the default setting Local Computer.

Step 8 In the Installation Selection dialog box, click Upgrade, Remove, or Add Components to an Existing Instance of SQL Server.

Step 9 Click Next.

Step 10 Follow the on-screen prompts until the Upgrade dialog box appears.

Step 11 Check the Yes, Upgrade My Programs check box.

Step 12 Click Next.

Step 13 In the Choose Licensing Mode dialog box, click Processor License For, and enter the number of processors in the Cisco Unity server.

Step 14 Click Continue.

Step 15 Click Yes.

Step 16 In the Select Components dialog box, click Next to accept the default values.

Step 17 In the Start Copying Files dialog box, click Next.

Step 18 Click Finish.

Step 3 Follow the on-screen prompts until the System Key dialog box appears.

Step 4 If the number of voice ports is not changing or if you are reducing the number of voice ports, click Use the Current License Settings. Then skip to Step 7.

If you are adding voice ports, click Update or Initialize License Settings from Update File. Then continue with Step 5.

Step 5 Insert the Cisco Unity Activation Code disk in drive A.

(When the system key upgrade was purchased, Cisco sent an e-mail containing an attached file with an activation code for the system key. The instructions in the e-mail directed that the attached file be saved to a disk. For more information, see the "Cisco Unity Activation Code" section.)

Step 6 Browse to drive A, select the file on the disk, then click Open.

Step 7 Click Next.

Step 8 Follow the on-screen prompts until the Select Features dialog box appears.

Step 9 Uncheck the Upgrade Cisco Unity check box, and check the Install Voice Card Software check box.

Step 10 Click Next.
