The CCNA certification validates your skills and knowledge in network fundamentals, network access, IP connectivity, IP services, security fundamentals, and automation and programmability.

Here’s how to prepare for the exam:

When you’re ready for the exam, register at Pearson Vue. After you pass the exam, you can link your digital certification badge to all your social media profiles to tell the world what you’ve achieved.

Join the CCNA Guided Study Group

The new CCNA Guided Study Group is a 12-week course led by a dedicated, expert learning coach who will guide you step-by-step as you prepare for the CCNA exam. The first session of this course begins on August 13, 2020, and includes:

There are no formal prerequisites for CCNA certification, but you should have an understanding of the exam topics before taking the exam.

CCNA candidates often also have:

  • One or more years of experience implementing and administering Cisco solutions
  • Knowledge of basic IP addressing
  • A good understanding of network fundamentals


CCNA certification is valid for three years.
