Cisco Catalyst Center Global Manager, Release 1.3.1
New software features in Catalyst Center Global Manager 1.3.1
Cisco Catalyst Center Global Manager, Release 1.3.1
This document describes the features, limitations, and bugs for Catalyst Center Global Manager, Release 1.3.1.
Catalyst Center Global Manager is a platform that provides you with a single-pane-of-glass (SPoG) interface to easily manage multiple Catalyst Centers. Catalyst Center Global Manager integrates information from various Catalyst Center platforms into a single display.
For example, you might have several Catalyst Centers deployed throughout your enterprise, each serving a particular region. Instead of logging into each Catalyst Center separately, you can connect the Catalyst Centers to a single Catalyst Center Global Manager and monitor everything from there.
The benefits of Catalyst Center Global Manager are:
● Improved efficiency: By combining information and tools into a unified interface, IT teams can perform tasks more quickly without switching between systems.
● Improve Service Level Agreements (SLA): With a focus on Time to Resolution (TTR) metrics, Catalyst Center Global Manager improves SLAs without requiring an unsustainable increase in network management teams, even as the network footprint expands.
● Enhanced visibility: Catalyst Center Global Manager provides a comprehensive view of operations, allowing for an easier way to monitor and manage resources, identify issues, and make informed decisions.
● Simplified management: Centralizing control reduces complexity, making it easier for IT staff and managers to oversee systems and processes.
● Scalability: A single-pane-of-glass system scales to accommodate growth or changes within the organization.
Catalyst Center Global Manager allows you to:
● View network status changes summaries
● Monitor these summaries:
◦ Routing
◦ Switching
◦ Wireless
◦ Endpoints
◦ Software-Defined Access
Catalyst Center Global Manager provides a complete solution for managing global and large-scale deployments through a single, universally accessible dashboard. This platform provides an overview of network health across all branch offices and delivers full-stack visibility into campus, policy, and wireless environments. It also supports a global search of different Catalyst Center deployments, and their devices, endpoints, or users, allowing seamless cross-launch into Catalyst Center. This capability is especially beneficial for managing distributed, high-scale systems, ensuring network consistency and operational efficiency. It is ideal for large-scale networks, geographically dispersed networks, and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) with multiple Catalyst Center instances.
Catalyst Center Global Manager supports monitoring up to 25 controllers and 20 active users. Controllers will continue to function normally, monitoring and controlling their respective networks. For more information, see "Scale numbers" in the Cisco Catalyst Center Global Manager Deployment Guide.
The minimum supported versions of the Catalyst Center are 2.3.7.9, 2.3.7.10, 3.1.3 and 3.1.5.
Note: Single-node and 3-node clusters, supported Catalyst physical appliance, virtual appliance (VA) on VMware ESXi, and virtual appliance (VA) on Amazon Web Services (AWS) can be integrated into Catalyst Center Global Manager.
New software features in Catalyst Center Global Manager 1.3.1
This section provides a brief description of the new and changed software features introduced in this release.
Table 1. New software features in Catalyst Center Global Manager 1.3.1
| Product impact |
Feature |
Description |
| Ease of setup |
First-time setup |
As part of the first-time setup, after you log in with your new user account and accept the Cisco General Terms (formerly known as the End User License Agreement (EULA)), cisco.com registration is triggered automatically. Note: For the first-time setup, ensure that you: · use the valid cisco.com user ID for completing the registration and controller enrollment workflow. · enable the pop-ups for the page in the browser. For more information, see "Log in to Catalyst Center Global Manager and run it" in the Cisco Catalyst Center Global Manager Deployment Guide. |
| Ease of setup |
MemberID-based controller enrollment |
After you complete the first-time setup, use the streamlined enrollment navigation in Catalyst Center Global Manager to add controllers and complete the enrollment. By default, this navigation shows an overview with workflow instructions for controller registration, and system monitoring. After completing the first-time setup of Catalyst Center Global Manager, when you log in to the Catalyst Center, you receive general instructions to enroll a controller if there is no controller enrolled. As part of the Catalyst Center enrollment process, you must create an entry for the Catalyst Center in Catalyst Center Global Manager by adding a controller. To add a controller, enter the member ID of the Catalyst Center along with the controller’s IP address or FQDN in Catalyst Center Global Manager to complete the enrollment process. Once the controller is enrolled, all the Catalyst Center Global Manager features get enabled for the user. Note: · Member ID is a global unique identifier for each instance of the controller that gets assigned when it gets created and is registered with the Catalyst Center Global Manager Cloud. · You need to have a valid email id registered with cisco.com to complete the enrollment. For more information on enrolling and deleting a controller, see "Enroll Catalyst Center to Catalyst Center Global Manager for the first time” in the Cisco Catalyst Center Global Manager Deployment Guide. |
| Ease of use |
Situational dashboards |
The Situational Dashboards let you create custom dashboards by selecting up to 15 of the 32 pre-built dashlets available in Catalyst Center Global Manager. Each dashboard is specific to an individual user. Note: This feature is in beta. Key functionalities include: · Dedicated creation interface: A new menu option provides access to the dashboard creation page. · Custom dashboard creation: Users can assign a unique name to each new dashboard. · Flexible dashlet integration: Up to 15 dashlets can be added to a single dashboard at once. · Organized dashlet selection: Dashlets are grouped logically by category or section for easy discovery and selection. For more information, see "Situational Dashboard" in the Cisco Catalyst Center Global Manager Deployment Guide. |
| Ease of use |
Page error aggregation |
All the second-level pages, including Alerts, Device infrastructure (Health, Software-Defines Access, and End-of-life Devices), Endpoints, and Situational Dashboards display a Loading complete progress indicator. The progress bar is: • Green- If page loading is successful and it will vanish in five seconds. • Blue- While page loading is in progress. • Red- If page loading fails, error explanation will be displayed via a link-click/side panel pop-out. For more information, see "Monitor from the overview dashboard" in the Cisco Catalyst Center Global Manager Deployment Guide. |
| Base functionality |
End-of-life devices |
The End-of-life (EoL) devices feature provides information about Cisco devices that have reached or are approaching their EoL status. It includes critical hardware and software expiration dates to assist with lifecycle management. This feature parallels the EoX (End-of-Life) functionality in Catalyst Center, delivering comprehensive reports on device lifecycle milestones to support product upgrade and replacement planning. Note: This feature is in beta. Support for this feature required Catalyst Center Global Manager-managed Catalyst Centers to be upgraded to software version later than 2.3.7.10 and 3.1.5 build. For more information, see "End-of-Life" in the Cisco Catalyst Center Global Manager Deployment Guide. |
| Base functionality enhancement |
Data export |
The data export feature in Catalyst Center Global Manager allows you to export all the table data by generating CSV files containing all matching records. You can apply filters to refine the data before exporting. The export process runs in the background, and upon completion, users receive a toast notification and can download the CSV file through their browser. The GUI displays only the five most recent exports per user. These recent exports are accessible via the Download Report tab, even after logging off or session timeout. Note: This feature is in beta. Currently, export functionality is supported only for the Device Health table under Device Infrastructure > Health. Each user can run one export at a time. The export files are retained for three days before automatic pruning. Export duration may vary depending on record volume, server load, and network latency. You can also cancel an in-progress export. This feature enhances data accessibility and management efficiency within Catalyst Center Global Manager. For more information, see "Device health" in the Cisco Catalyst Center Global Manager Deployment Guide. |
