One of the most important points to emphasize with your customers is that by having a service solution in place, they will reduce network operating costs. Software support saves them money by eliminating the risks associated with paying time and material costs for individual updates. In some cases, the individual cost of one updated software release is equal to or more than the cost of a service contract that can provide those entitlements. Customers with a SAS service contract are entitled to application updates, maintenance releases, and application minor releases. Customers with a SASU service contract are additionally entitled to major upgrade releases. Note: Some Cisco software applications might offer only SAS or only SASU.
