For All Cisco Copyrighted Materials

In addition to any specific licenses or permissions that may apply, the Guidelines for Use of Cisco Copyrighted Materials apply to all use of our content.

Use the Request Tool to make all requests for licenses to Cisco’s copyrighted materials.

Common Request Types

  1. Use of Name or Likeness of Cisco Executive
The names and likenesses (photographs, drawings, etc.) of Cisco executives are protected by publicity and privacy rights and may not be used without prior written permission. If you are an accredited member of the media, please visit our media resources site. Other requesters should use our online Request Tool.

  2. Networking Element Icons
Cisco publishes and maintains a library of element icons for representing common devices in telecommunication and computer networks. The current library of icons is at http://www.cisco.com/web/about/ac50/ac47/2.html. Cisco encourages the use of the network icons and freely grants permission to use elements and icons in unmodified format.

  3. White Papers, Implementation Guides, and Technology Overviews
Cisco employees routinely author white papers, implementation guides, and technology overviews. Cisco does not generally license these materials for reproduction or distribution for commercial purposes or permit local hosting of these materials on third-party Web pages. Instead, Cisco encourages and specifically authorizes parties to “deep link” to web pages on www.cisco.com. This policy ensures that all links are to the most current versions of the works. See our Web Usage Policy for more information.

Special exception for use in accredited educational programs: Instructor duplication and distribution to students in accredited educational programs of Cisco white papers, implementation guides, and technology overviews is expressly authorized, without additional permission, with the following limitations:

  4.

    -

Except for actual duplication costs, instructors shall not charge students for such materials.

    -

Cisco materials must not be bound into any compilation or collective work. All Cisco materials must be collated by a separate binding (if any).

    -

Instructors shall reproduce only sufficient copies to meet the anticipated needs for the then current course or term.

    -

Reproductions of Cisco materials must retain all original copyright notices.

  5. Product Photography
Cisco allows third parties to use Cisco product photography located in the Cisco Marketing Library. Permission for use of product photography is granted only under the following conditions:

    -

The use will not disparage Cisco or imply endorsement by Cisco.

    -

The photography cannot be changed or manipulated in any way with the exception of resizing and cropping.

    -

Each use should be accompanied by the credit line and notice, "Courtesy of Cisco Systems, Inc. Unauthorized use not permitted."

    -

No permission is granted to use trademarks of Cisco Systems, Inc., or its subsidiaries or affiliates, apart from the incidental appearance of such trademarks in the product photography provided by Cisco.

Downloading our product photography indicates that you accept these terms.

You must have a Cisco.com account to browse the photo library and download our product photography. There is no fee for an account on Cisco.com.

If you require written permission, please use the Request Tool to submit your request.

  6. Product Documentation
Cisco permits, without the need for a written license, purchasers or authorized resellers of Cisco products to reproduce and modify any accompanying product documentation for distribution within the end user's organization in order to use the products. No permission or license is given to reproduce or distribute copies of product documentation for sale to the general public or for any commercial purpose.

A special exception exists for systems integrators, value-added resellers, government contractors, and other similarly situated third-party installers ("Integrators"): Cisco permits, without the need for a written license, Integrators to reproduce Cisco product documentation (including media type changes) and create derivative works in the form of compilations for distribution to end-user customers. Please identify your request as coming from an Integrator when submitting a copyright request.
