Problem Description
Licensing CAD
After you have installed and configured CAD, the Unified CCE License Administration application automatically starts. You can license your software at this point or close the application and license your software later. Your CAD software will not run until you have licensed your CAD services. You can run the Unified CCE License Administration application again whenever you want to update the number of seats you have purchased.
Current licenses persist when upgrades are made on existing or new servers. No new licenses are required, but customers that install new or additional CAD seats must license the software using the "Unified CCE License Administration" application that resides on the CAD server.
Background
Complete these steps in order to use the Unified CCE License Administration application to obtain a license account:
- Launch LicenseAdmin.exe located in the folder \Program Files\Cisco\Desktop\bin.
The Unified CCE License Administration application dialog box appears.
This application includes a License URL button in the lower-left corner that launches the server's default browser and directs it to a website from which you can generate license keys. The URL to that website is:
http://209.46.83.138/sws/ciscoLicense/LicenseRegister.html- Click License URL.
Internet Explorer launches and accesses the website.Note: After November 15, 2012 this URL will no longer be valid. The default browser will display an error message that indicates the site cannot be found.
Problem Symptoms
After November 15, 2012 the URL http://209.46.83.138/sws/ciscoLicense/LicenseRegister.html
will no longer be valid. The default browser will display an error message that indicates the site cannot be found.
Workaround/Solution
Corrective Action
A patch has been issued with these releases that corrects the URL passed to the browser and results in the license website to appear:
- 9.0(1a)ES1
- 8.5(4)ES1
Alternatively, the administrator that licenses the software can manually type in the new correct URL (http://cadlicensing.com/sws/ciscoLicense/licenseregister.html) in the browser address bar. After the address is manually entered in the browser, complete the following steps:
- Follow the instructions on the website. All of the information is required.
- Click Submit.
The website displays a page that lists the license codes and verification numbers needed to license your product.
- Enter the Customer ID, License Codes, and Verification numbers in the Unified CCE License Administration application, then click Finish.
All of the licensed applications are activated.Note: If you install CAD services on a computer running Windows Server 2003, Internet Explorer might display this message and block access to the website.
Content from the web site listed below is being blocked by the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration.
You must reconfigure Internet Explorer to enable access to the licensing website. In order to enable access to the licensing web site, complete these steps:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Select Tools > Internet Options, then click the Security tab.
- Select Trusted Sites, then click Sites.
- Enter the URL of the licensing web site in the appropriate field, then click Add.
- Clear the Require Server Verification (https:) For All Sites in This Zone check box, then click OK.
