Products Affected
PGW2200 - 9.6.1
Problem Description
After a fresh install of 9.6(1), when enabling the SNMP interface, running the config-snmp utility to configure the interface corrupts the configuration file and the SNMP interface is not functional.
Background
The SNMP version was updated in 9.6(1). The configuration tool installed with 9.6(1) is compatible with the 9.5(2) and the 9.4(1) versions of configuration files, but not the 9.6(1) version.
Problem Symptoms
The 9.6 snmpd.cnf file cannot be configured using the config-snmp tool. Therefore, the SNMP interface cannot be enabled after a fresh install.
Workaround/Solution
Workaround for a new installation:
-
Download the snmpd.cnf.tmpl file from the Media Gateway Controller 9.6.1 Software Download Site (registered customers only) .
-
Copy the file to /opt/CiscoMGC/snmp/snmpd.cnf on both the active and standby PGWs.
-
Run the config-snmp tool as described in the Release 9 Installation and Configuration Guide.
If upgrading from an earlier release, follow the instructions as described in the Installation Guide and copy snmpd.cnf.custorig to snmpd.cnf file after the installation.
Solution:
This issue will be fixed in a future 9.6(1) patch. See CSCsc28210 (registered customers only) to track status.
