Problem Description
The PA-MC-E3 Port Adapters with Serial Numbers listed in the above table, have been identified to have the potential to experience LOS (Loss Of Signal) instability.
Background
The problem is caused by incorrect assembly of a component. The component orientation on the board is rotated by 180 degrees. More detail is provided below in the How to Identify Hardware Levels section. The incorrect orientation of the component causes lower power output levels. As a result the port adapter may not be able to drive an E3 signal over entire length of the cable.
Problem Symptoms
The remote device may log errors or indicate LOS (loss of signal).
Workaround/Solution
Workaround:
None
Solution:
RMA the affected PA-MC-E3 using the following instructions.
Service Level: Mfg New - 3rd Bus Day NON BILLABLE
Failure Class: Administrative Request
Failure Code: Field Notice Alert
Note: If the Top Assembly and the Printed Circuit Assembly number for your PA-MC-E3 Port Adapter with a matching Serial Number from the above list is (800-02757-07) and (73-2410-07) and higher respectively then the PA has been upgraded to include the required corrections.
How To Identify Hardware Levels
Use the command show diag slot# [details] [summary] to see details of version and type of Port Adapter.
