Problem Description

The default IP address in XTC units shipped between 3/2/2001 and 3/15/2001 may have been input incorrectly. This will result in the inability to connect to the Cisco ONS 15327 with the default IP address (192.1.0.2) using the RJ-45 LAN interface (documented in the User Manual section 3.3).

Background

An incorrect default IP address was programmed into both the Cisco 15327-XTC-14 and the Cisco 15327-XTC-28-3 during the system test process. XTC boards shipped between 03/02/01 and 03/15/01 were affected by this process error. The process fix has been identified, implemented and verified.

Problem Symptoms

The problem symptom is the inability to communicate with the Cisco ONS 15327 using the default IP address via the RJ-45 LAN interface.

Workaround/Solution

Determine the IP address of an XTC using the TL1 craft interface.

Note:?ONS 15327 R1.0 TL1 commands require Ctags.

1. Connect a serial cable to the XTC's craft port and open a terminal TL1 session.

2. At the TL1 prompt type act-user::CISCO15:1; to activate the user.

3. Type rtrv-ne:::2::::; to retrieve the NE configuration information.

   The following information displays:

   "IPADDR=192.1.0.2,IPMASK=255.255.255.0,DEFRTR=192.1.0.2,
   EXTLAN=OFF,INTLAN=OFF,RTRMDE=OFF,STM=SONET,NODEID=-1174445306,
   EXTRNG=N,RNGWTR=99,TMMD=LINE,SSMG=GEN1,NSQL=SAME-AS-DUS,
   SWVER=1.00.00,LOAD=01.00-001A-00.13"
   
   

4. Type canc-user:::3; to log out.

   At this point, you may change the IP address using the TL1 commands (procedure below) or you may choose to use the information gathered using the rtrv-ne command to connect to the system using the Cisco Transport Controller (CTC).

To change the IP address using TL1:

1. At the TL1 prompt type act-user::CISCO15:1; to activate the user.

2. Change the IP address by typing ed-ne:::2:::ipaddr=x.x.x.x; where x.x.x.x = desired ip address.

3. Type canc-user:::3; to log out.
