Problem Description
Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0S has released Cisco IOS Software Release12.0(10)S1 to support the new Cisco 7500 Series Versatile Interface Processor (VIP) 4.
Cisco has also integrated other defect solutions, which are listed in the DDTS section below.
Background
Cisco created maintenance release of Cisco IOS Software 12.0(10)S1 to release the Cisco 7500 series VIP4.
Cisco IOS Software Release12.0(10)S1 is built from Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(10)S + VIP4 support + SW defects solutions integrated (listed in the DDTS section below).
Problem Symptoms
Cisco 7500 series new VIP4 required a release vehicle in the time frame that did not meet regular release schedules in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0S. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(10)S1 resolved this issue.
Workaround/Solution
All Cisco 7200, 7500 and 1200 images are being released in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(10)S1.
In order to use a Cisco 7500 series new VIP4 in the Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0S release, you must use Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(10)S1 or later of the Cisco IOS Software 12.0S maintenance release.
Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(10)S1 is also recommended to obtain defect solutions that are listed below.

Cisco IOS Versions Affected
Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(10)S will not be available through new orders from Cisco. The product numbers used to order Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(10)S images will be used to ship the new rebuild Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(10)S1.
CCO IOS planner will maintain Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(10)S and Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(10)S1.
