Introduction

Cisco IP SoftPhone can query the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directory on Cisco CallManager with DC Directory. This document covers the setup of the Cisco IP SoftPhone Directory with anonymous users' rights so that you do not need to release a password for privileged users.

Ensure that you meet these requirements before you attempt this configuration:

  • Cisco IP SoftPhone

  • Cisco CallManager

Components Used

The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:

  • Cisco CallManager version 3.3 or later

  • Cisco IP SoftPhone version 1.3 or later

  • Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 4 or greater), or Windows 2000

Configuring Cisco IP SoftPhone to Search DC Directory with Anonymous Login

In this section, you are presented with the information to configure the features described in this document.

Configuring Cisco CallManager

Complete these steps in order to search the Cisco CallManager integrated corporate directory with anonymous users' rights .

  1. Choose Start > Programs> DC Directory Administrator in order to launch the DC Directory Administrator.

  2. Choose Default Profile, and click Next.

  3. Fill in the password for the Directory Manager, and click Finish.

  4. In DC Directory Administrator, choose View > Access Control.

  5. Expand the Directory until you see the Users folder.

  6. Right-click the Users folder, and choose Access Control.

  7. Select Anonymous Users' Rights, and click Properties.

  8. Click Select All, as shown, and then click OK.

  9. Close the Access Control and DC Directory Administrator windows.

Configuring Cisco IP SoftPhone

Complete these steps in order to configure Cisco IP SoftPhone.

  1. Click the Settings toolbar icon.

  2. Click the Directories tab, and then click Add.

    The Directory Service window appears.

  3. Configure the directory settings as described in this table.

    Field Name

    Description

    Display Name

    Enter CallManager as the name for the LDAP directory.

    Server Name

    Enter the IP address or host name of the Cisco CallManager server.

    Port Number

    Enter 8404 as the port number used by the directory.

    This server requires me to login

    Uncheck this box since you plan to use anonymous users' rights.

    Search Base

    Enter ou=Users,o=cisco.com for the base, or root, of the directory service in which to search for names.

  4. Click OK in order to redisplay the Directories tab that shows the directory name you just added.

  5. Click OK in order to finish the settings.

  6. Click the Directory toolbar icon.

  7. Choose CallManager and click Show All in order to confirm that you can list the directory.
