End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement
for the Cisco IDS Host Sensor Product Line
Cisco Systems® announces the end of life of the Cisco® IDS Host Sensor product line, based on technology licensed from Entercept Security Technologies (Cisco's OEM partner). This end of life action is the result of a strategic relationship that Cisco has entered into with Okena, Inc., which will supercede the Cisco IDS Host Sensor product line from Entercept.
The last day to order Cisco IDS Host Sensor products is June 21, 2003. The currently shipping 2.5 version of the Cisco IDS Host Sensor product line will be the last orderable and shipped version. No future releases or major upgrades will be offered. Customers with service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until June 21, 2004. Table 1 below describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco IDS Host Sensor product line. The September 30, 2003 end of signature update and software maintenance release date is driven by Cisco's OEM partner's product direction with their 4.0 release. This will affect both the Cisco and Entercept branded version 2.5 installed base.

Migration Information
Cisco intends to offer a no-cost, one-for-one product replacement/migration program in the Q2CY03 timeframe. The intent of this program is to support existing Cisco IDS Host Sensor customers who chose to migrate to the new Okena-based product line. This bulletin will be updated with the details of the replacement product line and the migration program in early Q2CY03.
Replacement Product Information
The Cisco IDS Host Sensor product is being replaced with the Cisco Security Agent product, which is based on the Okena technology. The current Cisco Security Agent part numbers are provided in Table 3 below. Note that the migration program discussed previously will not be available until Q2CY03.
