Introduction
This document demonstrates how to install CSAMC 5.1 to use Microsoft SQL 2000 as a remote database.
Prerequisites
Requirements
Ensure that you meet these requirements before you attempt this configuration:
-
Ensure that you have full administrative access rights to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Management Console. This allows to you view and configure SQL Server 2000.

Ensure that you have successfully installed SQL 2000 database in another server.

Ensure that you have met Cisco Secure Agent MC installation prerequisites. Refer toSystem Requirements for more information.
Components Used
The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:

MS SQL Server 2000
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

MS SQL Server 2000 Configuration Steps
Complete these steps to configure CSA MC5.1 to use the MS SQL Server 2000 as a remote database.

Ensure that you have successfully installed the SQL 2000 database in another server. Choose Mixed Mode Authentication and check the Blank Password box.

Start the SQL Enterprise Manager application.

Right-click the server and choose Edit SQL Server Registration Properties.

Choose SQL Server Authentication and enter the SA account.

Right-click the server name and choose Properties.
-
Click the large Network Configuration button at the bottom and verify that TCP/IP is chosen and on the right side of the screen.

Right-click the databases and choose New.
-
Name the new database CSAMC5.1 and press OK.
-
Right-click the new database (CSAMC5.1) and choose Properties.
-
Click the Filegroups tab, type ANALYSIS in the empty Name field, and then press OK to finish.

Right-click the new database (CSAMC5.1) and choose Properties.

Click the Data Files tab.

Expand the Security folder in SQL Manager.

Create a username such as CSAUSER and choose SQL Server Authentication. Provide a password for the user and then choose the CSAMC5.1 database from the drop-down menu. Press OK to proceed

Press OK and then input the SQL Server Authentication password in the Confirm Password window again.

Press NO to grant privileges to the user CSAUSER.

Add db_owner, db_ddladmin, db_datareader and db_datawriter permissions, and press OK.
Cisco Security Agent MC Installation Steps
Complete these steps to install the Cisco Security Agent (CSA) Management Center (MC).

Download the installation file from the Management Center for Cisco Security Agents, and then click .exe to install the CSA Management Center.

Start the CSA MC 5.1 installation. Click Next.

Choose the option Remote Database: Place configuration information in a remote database, and then click Next.
-
Type the information into these fields: the CSA MC Server Name, SQL server Database Name that corresponds, login User Name, and Password. Use the password that configured previously. Click Next.

Verify the installation in the Destination Folder field. Click Next.

Click Install to start the installation.

Note the Setup Status information.
Verify
Use this section to confirm that your configuration works properly.

Open the CSAMC 5.1 login page and log in. It now runs concurrently with MS SQL Server 2000.

The CSAMC opens the configuration home page when it invokes the remote MS SQL Server 2000 database.

Verify the database details in the MS SQL Server 2000.

Note the CSA agent_kit database in the MS SQL Server 2000.
Troubleshoot

Troubleshooting Procedure
Follow these instructions to troubleshoot your configuration.

Ensure that the CSA MC Server and SQL Server have the same system time. The system time on the CSA MC Server and SQL Server are not synchronized.

Correct the time issue and re-launch the CSA MC 5.1 login page.
Troubleshooting Commands
The Output Interpreter Tool ( registered customers only) (OIT) supports certain show commands. Use the OIT to view an analysis of show command output.
Note: Refer to Important Information on Debug Commands before you use debug commands.
