Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(4)XL

Introduction

This Product Bulletin describes the new features introduced in Cisco IOS(TM) software release 12.0(4)XL. It should be used in conjunction with Product Bulletin titled, Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T

New Features

12.0(4)XL is an Early Deployment (ED) release. This release is focused on delivering high density VoIP applications on the Cisco AS5800 to market. Any ED release of software should be utilized first in a test network before being deployed in a production network.

The features delivered with this ED release will be immediately incorporated into the 12.0(6)T release. As such, maintenance for these features should be obtained from the 12.0T and 12.1 releases. For more information about the Cisco IOS software release process, please see Product Bulletin #537 .

Detailed Information

The AS5800 Voice Gateway now supports high density VoIP applications. With 12.0(4)XL and the new DS58-192VOX (T1 C549 DSP-based Voice Feature Card), the AS5800 Voice Gateway supports the following:

• Up to 1344 VoIP calls, in a split dial shelf configuration with Voice Detection (VAD)/silence suppression turned on.
  
  
• Multiple voice coders including G.723.1, G.729a, G.726, G.728 as well as the existing G.711, and G.729.
  
  
• Fax relay up to 14.4 Kbps.
  
  
• Codec negotiation.
  
  
• Configurable packet/frame sizing.
  
  

These capabilities, among others, make the Cisco AS5800 Voice Gateway the capacity voice gateway on the market.
