Implement Secure Access to Your Unified Network
The Cisco Secure Services Client is client software that provides 802.1X (Layer 2) user and device authentication for access to both wired and wireless networks. The Secure Services Client manages user and device identity and the network access protocols required for secure access. It works intelligently to make it simple for employees and guests to connect to a Cisco wired or wireless network.
As a component of the Cisco Unified Wireless Network, the Secure Services Client offers the following benefits:
Simplifies management of both wired and wireless networks:
- Fully integrates with the Cisco Unified Wireless Network access points and wireless LAN controllers
- Offers an enterprise deployment mechanism in which user profiles can be distributed to the entire organization through a single Extensible Markup Language (XML) file
- Features an easy-to-use client interface that allows end users to connect to the office, home and public networks easily and improve the troubleshooting process
Improves network security:
- Protects network endpoint devices, enforces security policies and controls network access
- Supports leading security standards such as Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), WPA2, and Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP)
- Provides an end-to-end authentication service when combined with the Cisco Secure Access Control Server
- Integrates with the Cisco Self-Defending Network with support for Network Admission Control (NAC)
Lowers the total cost of network ownership, or TCO:
- Decreases implementation costs associated with setting up user profiles and installing client software
- Minimizes operational costs associated with protecting wired and wireless endpoint devices
The following options of the Cisco Secure Services Client are available for download from the Cisco Software Center:
- Non-expiring, wired-only license for a limited feature set (see Cisco Client Services 4.1 Product Bulletin for detailed list of features)
- A 90-day full wired/wireless trial license
