Q. How can I set up the CIT200?A.
Linksys Cordless Internet Telephony Kit offers you all the functions of a regular phone through Skype. You will get the convenience of a cordless phone and all its features, plus the high-quality voice reception that you get from Skype on your PC without being tied to your computer.
To set up the CIT200, you need to perform these steps:
- Downloading the Skype Softwfare
- Downloading the CIT200 Driver
- Installing the CIT200 Diver
- Setting up the Cordless Internet Telephony Kit
Downloading the Skype Software
Download Skype at http://skype.com/download.
Install the Skype software on the computer. For instructions, refer to the Skype documentation.
Downloading the CIT200 Driver
Download the latest driver available for the CIT200. To go to the Linksys Downloads page, click here. Select the model number of your Cordless Internet Telephony Kit, then Downloads For This Product.
Click Driver to go to the download driver page.
Click Download to download the latest driver file.
If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Internet Explorer, you might see a "Pop-up blocked" message in your browser Information Bar. Click the bar and select Temporarily Allow Pop-ups, then click Download again.
Click Save in the File Download dialog box that appears. In the Save As dialog box, choose a location for the file such as the Desktop and click Save. When the download is complete, click Close, if prompted.
If the driver file you have downloaded is in zip format, double-click the zip file and extract the contents to a single folder or to the Desktop.
Note: You will need to use a utility to open and extract files from the ZIP file archive, such as WinZipregTag;. To download WinZipregTag;, visit http://www.winzip.com. You can also use the built-in unzipping features of Windows XP to unzip the contents from the archive.
Installing the CIT200 Driver
Open the folder which contains the extracted files and double-click setup_eng.
Once the InstallShield Wizard appears, click Next.
When the License Agreement appears, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then click Next.
Click Finish to exit the wizard.
Setting up the Cordless Internet Telephony Kit
Make sure the Base Station is connected to your PC's USB port.
Start the Skype software and login to your Skype account.
Start the USB driver by double-clicking on the Linksys Cordless Internet Telephony Kit icon on your desktop if it is not already started.
Once both Skype and the Base Station are active, the CIT200 is ready for use. Your current Skype online status should be shown on the Handset's display screen.
