Cisco Announces the End-of-Sale and the

End-of-Life Process for the
Cisco WT-2700 Series

of Fixed Wireless Access Products


The Cisco Wireless Access Business Unit provides Fixed Wireless Last Mile Access products. The products affected are:

  • Cisco WT-2710 Point-to-Point Broadband Wireless System, including:

    • UBR-MCW-PDA=, P2P line card for Cisco uBR72xx Series routers

    • UBR-WPFD=, P2P power feed panel

    • FWA-PTP-UBR7246-AC, Wireless uBR7246 Bundle-AC

    • FWA-PTP-UBR7246-DC, Wireless uBR7246 Bundle-DC

    • FWAP2PUBR7246VXRAC, WIreless uBR7246VXR Bundle-AC

    • FWAP2PUBR7246VXRDC, Wireless uBR7246VXR Bundle-DC

  • Cisco WT-2750 Multipoint Broadband Wireless System, including:

    • UBR-MCW-MDA=, P2MP line card for Cisco uBR72xx Series routers

    • UBR-WMF4A=, P2MP power feed panel

    • CISCO-WT2772-MAA=, MMDS Wireless Transverter/ODU

    • UBR-ODD-xxx, duplexors for MMDS Transverters

  • NM-WMDA=, P2MP CPE network module for Cisco 2600/3600 routers

End-of-Life Definitions and Calendar

The term End-of-Life (EOL) means a process concerning all activities revolving around the discontinuation of a product. The following table illustrates the definition and timing of each milestone for the EOL

End of Sales

Date when the EOL products are no longer orderable or visible on Cisco price lists. Service contracts may be renewed until the "End of Contract Renewal" milestone. Products are supported until the "End of Support" milestone.

February 12, 2002

End of Production

Date when Manufacturing no longer builds packages for the EOL products and no longer maintains stock levels. Customer Advocacy (CA) will maintain stocks to fulfill Return Material Authorization (RMA) needs.

End of Engineering Hardware

Date when Development Engineering no longer updates the EOL products.

February 12, 2003

End of Engineering Software

Date when Development Engineering no longer updates the EOL products. Development Engineering provides P1/P2 and S1/S2 bug fixes as necessary until the "End of Support" milestone.

October 10, 2004

End of Support Hardware

Provides Engineering fixes on P1 and P2 for hardware 24 months from end of sales announcement.

November 12, 2006

End of Support Software

Provides Engineering fixes on P1 and P2 on software for 36 months from the last software release of 10 October.

EOL Products and Migration

As per the above EOL schedule, End-of-Sale (EOS) for these bundles will occur February 12, 2002. There is no Cisco product substitute for the Cisco WT-2700 Series. There are competitive products in the industry for UNII point-to-point and point-to-multipoint as well as Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Service (MMDS) point-to-multipoint products. Customers may migrate to these platforms.

Cisco WT-2700 Series Product line

The Cisco WT-2700 Series product provides point-to-point and point-to-multipoint Fixed Wireless Access for the UNII 5.7Ghz band and the MMDS 2.5Ghz band.

These products are generally used by Fixed Wireless Last Mile Access service providers who provide business access services for data and voice.
