Introduction
There are several options you can use to manage the file system on the VPN 3000 Concentrator.
Note: Refer to File Management for other options.

Requirements
There are no specific requirements for this document.
Components Used
The information in this document is based on the VPN 3000 Concentrator.
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Problem - Synchronize the Configuration
Unlike a PIX, the VPN 3000 Concentrator does not provide an option to synchronize the configuration from the primary on to the secondary VPN Concentrator when you configure failover. This document provides a procedure that allows you to achieve this on a VPN 3000 Concentrator.
Solution
The most efficient way is to synchronize the configuration on two VPN 3000 Concentrator devices when you configure redundancy between them. You can also use part of the procedure to backup or copy the current configuration on a specific VPN 3000 Concentrator and reload the same device with a new configuration.
Complete these steps in order to copy the configuration file from the primary VPN Concentrator to the secondary VPN Concentrator:
-
On the primary VPN Concentrator, click Save Needed in order to save the configuration to the CONFIG file.
-
Choose Administration > File Management and click the View option in the CONFIG configuration file on the primary VPN Concentrator.
This step opens the configuration file in a web browser.
-
Copy and paste the entire contents into a text file. Then search for [ip 2] and [ip 1] in the configuration file in order to modify the respective IP addresses.
The [ip 2] is for the public interface and the [ip 1] is for the private interface. Save the text file on your desktop.
-
Choose Administration > File Management > File Upload on the secondary VPN Concentrator and type CONFIG in the first box.
Browse and select the text file you saved earlier in the next box.
-
Choose Administration > System Reboot in order to reboot the VPN Concentrator. Select the Reboot without saving the active configuration option. This causes the secondary VPN Concentrator to reboot using the CONFIG that you just uploaded.
Problem - Unable to Save, File write error
You receive the Unable to Save, File write error error message during an attempt to save the configuration.
Solution
Choose Administration > File Management and delete old log files. It shows you how much memory is still available and used.
If you want to avoid that the logs are saved, then choose Configuration > System > Events > General and uncheck Save Log on Wrap.
