Announcement for the Cisco IGX-LSC-72

Cisco Systems announces the end of life of the Cisco IGX-LSC-72. The Cisco IGX-LSC-72 is an external label switch controller, providing MPLS for the Cisco IGX 8400 series.

This End-of-Life announcement for the Cisco IGX-LSC-72 has no impact on MPLS support for the Cisco IGX 8400 series in general.

The Cisco IGX-LSC-72 is a bundle, mainly consisting out of a Cisco7204VXR router and parts necessary to connect the Cisco7204VXR router to an IGX 8400. This announcement does not have an effect on availability and support terms for any part included in the Cisco IGX-LSC-72 bundle.

The last day to order the Cisco IGX-LSC-72 is September 30, 2003. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until September 30, 2008. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco IGX-LSC-72.

End of new service attachment date	For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.	September 30, 2004 Customer can order a new service-and-support contract or add the Cisco 7204VXR to a current contract. Cisco7204VXR is not affected by this announcement and its dates.
End of service contract renewal date	The last date to extend or renew a service contract for the product. The extension or renewal period cannot extend beyond the last date of support.	September 30, 2007 Customer can renew contract on Cisco7204VXR. Cisco7204VXR is not affected by this announcement and its dates.
Last date of support	The last date to receive service and support for the product. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product becomes obsolete.	September 30, 2008 Customer can receive support as long as the Cisco7204VXR has not reach the last date of support and must have an active service contract. Cisco7204VXR is not affected by this announcement and its dates.

Product Migration Options

As the IGX-LSC-72 and the BPX-TSC-72 include the same hardware and software, it is not required to replace hardware or to upgrade software. The service contract is associated with the CISCO7204VXR=, which is included in the IGX-LSC-72 as well as in the BPX-TSC-72 bundle. No action needs to be taken to have further MPLS support through an external label switch controller on the Cisco IGX 8400 series.

The Cisco BPX-TSC-72 bundle includes the same hardware and software as the Cisco IGX-LSC-72 bundle. Both bundles provide the same functionality.
