Lamp Test Button

You can use the Lamp Test button to test LEDs, and to reset the CTC password.

When you momentarily push the Lamp Test button, all LEDs on the ONS 15310-CL front panel light up. If an LED has more than one color, you can push the Lamp Test button to cycle all the colors.

Another use of the Lamp Test button is to reset the CTC password to the default value. The default CTC password is otbu+1.

Reset the CTC Password

A prerequisite for this procedure is that you must be on-site. Complete these steps in order to reset the CTC password:

  1. Locate the recessed Lamp Test button at the front of the ONS 15310-CL shelf (see Figure 1).

  2. Use a pen tip (or something of similar size) to press in and hold down the Lamp Test button for five seconds. The Alarm LED turns red. The Fail and Sync LEDs turn orange.

  3. Release the Lamp Test button for approximately two seconds.

  4. Press in and hold down the Lamp Test button again for five seconds. The Sync LED first turns red, and then turns green.

  5. Release the Lamp Test button.

  6. The password for the CISCO15 user name is reset to otbu+1, which is the default password.

Note: The reset does not affect other existing user names and passwords. The superuser reset applies only to the local node where you perform the procedure.

Note: CISCO15 has superuser privileges, which allow you to create another user name and assign a password.

Complete these steps if you want to create a user name and password:

  1. Click the Provisioning > Security tabs.

  2. Click Create.

  3. Fill in the fields with a new user name and password, and assign a security level.

  4. Click OK.
