Product Bulletin No. 1949

End-of-Life Announcement for Cisco MGX-RPM-128-M/B front cards and select back cards

Cisco Systems is officially announcing the end of sales and end of life (EOS/EOL) for the following Cisco MGX® Route Processor Module (RPM)-128-M/B front cards and select back cards with an announcement effective date of October 28, 2002. Cisco customers may continue to receive hardware and software support for a longer period as set forth in the milestones and timelines in Table 1.

The Cisco MGX-RPM-PR-256 will replace cards stated above. Compared to the RPM/B, the RPM-PR offers higher processor capability, greater Flash capacity and hardware-based error checking and correcting (ECC). This card can be used on the Cisco MGX 8000 Series of multiservice switches. Customers are urged to replace their MGX-RPM-128M/B cards with the replacement card MGX-RPM-PR-256. The Cisco Technology Migration Program is not offered to upgrade the MGX-RPM-128M/B front cards and back cards. Customers should contact their account managers to upgrade these cards.

Note: Switch software release 1.2.20 is the last release that will support the MGX-RPM-128M/B front cards and back cards.
