Introduction
This document provides a sample configuration for configuring the Content Switching Module (CSM) with Secure Socket Layer (SSL).
Prerequisites
Requirements
There are no specific requirements for this document.
Components Used
The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:
-
Cisco 7202 router running Cisco IOS® 12.1
-
Cisco Catalyst 6509 running IOS 12.1
-
CSM with SSL Termination Engine (STE) feature set running IOS 12.2(11) and SSL(0.86)
-
Cisco 7606 Router running IOS 12.1
-
CSM Build 3.1(0.119)
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Conventions
For more information on document conventions, refer to the Cisco Technical Tips Conventions.
Configure
In this section, you are presented with the information to configure the features described in this document.
Note: To find additional information on the commands used in this document, use the Command Lookup Tool (registered customers only) .
Network Diagram
This document uses this network setup:
In this topology, Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) is running over Multilayer Switch Feature Card 1 (MSFC1) and Multilayer Switch Feature Card 2 (MSFC2). There are two HSRP groups, one in client side and another in CSM side. The CSM is configured as dispatched mode between the MSFC and SSL Termination Engine (STE), and directed mode between the STE and Real servers. The CSM is load balancing SSL connections between two STEs.
Configurations
This document uses these configurations:
-
7202 router
-
6509 switch
-
STE-1
-
7606 switch
-
STE-2
These are the test cases:
-
SSL connection replication in CSM
-
SSL sticky replication in CSM
-
Failover of CSM with SSL connection left open
-
Failover of active MSFC with SSL connection open
-
Failover of chassis with SSL connections left open
-
SSL connection renegotiation in the same connection and resumption with new SSL connection (new feature)
-
CSM sticky functionality with multiple SSL connections with resumption
