End of Sales, End of Engineering, and End of Life
of Cisco CVA120 Series Cable Voice Adapter

In April, Cisco Systems announced the end of sales (EOS), end of engineering (EOE), and
end of life (EOL) of the Cisco CVA120 Series Cable Voice Adapter. The Cisco CVA120 Series consists of the Cisco CVA122 and CVA122E Cable Voice Adapters.
The EOS is effective August 23, 2002, a revision from October 26, 2002. Cisco will continue to support Cisco CVA120 Series software for a period of two years, ending on
August 23, 2004, and Cisco CVA120 Series hardware for a period of five years, ending on August 23, 2007. Milestone dates are listed in Table 1.

Software Support
The recommended last Cisco CVA122 and CVA122E software release to use depends on the functionality desired. DOCSIS 1.0 support will be in Cisco IOS® Release 12.3. DOCSIS 1.1 support will be in Cisco IOS Release 12.3T. Table 2 lists the images that will be supported for the Cisco CVA122 and CVA122E on an ongoing basis.

DOCSIS 1.1 and EuroDOCSIS 1.1 Support
Cisco is committed to supporting DOCSIS 1.1 functionality on the Cisco CVA122. DOCSIS 1.1 images will be supported in Cisco IOS Release 12.3T.
EuroDOCSIS 1.1 will not be supported on the Cisco CVA122E in any image. There are no plans to submit Cisco CVA122E for EuroDOCSIS certification.
PacketCable Support
The Cisco CVA120 Series Cable Voice Adapter was not designed to be PacketCable compliant. The original plan for the product was to support only the NCS signaling parts of PacketCable. There are no plans to submit the product for PacketCable qualification or to support PacketCable functionality beyond NCS signaling.
Substitute Products
The product substituted for the Cisco CVA122 and CVA122E may be different depending on the customer application. Table 4 shows the recommended replacement products for the Cisco CVA122 and CVA122E in various applications.

Availability
The Cisco CVA122 and CVA122E orderability will be closed on August 23, 2002. Replacement products and alternate software images listed above are available and orderable.
