The Cisco Aironet 1520 Series consists of the 1522 dual-radio mesh access point and the 1524 multi-radio mesh access point.
Cisco® Aironet® 1520 Series solution components can be ordered by individual part numbers. Note that for a safety-compliant outdoor installation, you may need other items, such as surge arrestors.
Cisco Aironet 1520 Series Lightweight Outdoor Mesh Access Points can be configured in one of two roles in a mesh network: root access point and mesh access point. Different accessories are required for the different installations.
Minimally, the access point requires the following:
• Power
• 2.4-GHz antenna
• 5-GHz antenna
If the access point is to be installed on a streetlight pole or equivalent, the following is also required:
• One pole-mount kit
If the access point is to be installed on a roof, where it will be wired to the network, the following is also required:
• One Ethernet cable
• Power Injector
A pole-mount kit might also be required for installation on a roof, depending on the installation method.
Each AP is shipped with three Liquid Tight Adapters, Grounding Lug, and Coaxial Sealant.
The rest of this ordering guide lists the part numbers for the various accessory components of the Cisco 1520 Series.
The Cisco 1520 Lightweight Outdoor Mesh Access Points are the main component of the mesh solution. Table 1 lists the available part numbers for the Cisco 1522 model, Table 2 lists the part numbers for the 1524 model.

Note that the part number does not distinguish between a rooftop or pole-top access point. The same device is used for either instance, with the role being configured in software.
Configurable Options
Cisco Aironet 1520 Series provides internal backup power option. The Cisco 1522 model offers an optional cable modem interface for the FCC (AIR-LAP1522PC-A-K9) and non-FCC configuration (AIR-LAP1522PC-N-K9). Table 3 shows the part number for the battery and cable modem options.

The Cisco Aironet 1522 provides three separate N connectors to attach the 2.4-GHz antennas and one N connector for 5 GHz antenna. The Cisco 1524 offers 5 N connectors to attach the three 2.4GHz antennas and one N connector for the 5.8GHz antenna and one N connector for the 4.9GHz antenna. Table 4 lists the antennas that are available for the Cisco Aironet 1520 Series.

Cisco Aironet 1520 Series Power Injector
The Cisco Aironet 1520 Series can be powered either by local AC power or by DC power over Ethernet.
• Power supplied at the top of streetlight poles is AC power. Use the Cisco Aironet 1520 Streetlight Power Tap or the AC power cord to plug the access point into this power source.
• When a Cisco Aironet 1520 access point is installed on the roof of a building, power can be supplied over Ethernet using a power injector. The power injector converts AC power into DC power and sends it along with the Ethernet signal to the access point. Use the Cisco Aironet 1520 Power Injector, along with any standard outdoor rated Ethernet cable, to power the access point. Do not use any power injector other than the one specified here. You will need to specify the country-specific power cord with the power injector.
