Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco® ONS 15600 Optical Cable and Optical Cable Consumables. The last day to order the affected product is November 28, 2006. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until November 27, 2011. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers will now be able to purchase LC standard optical cables and cleaning kits from companies other than Cisco. All fixed-port OGI IO modules are also end of sale/end of life and will not require the items identified in this product bulletin. Table 2 provides relevant information for migrating to the replacement product.

Product Migration Options
The recommended replacement for the Cisco ONS 15600 Optical Cable and Optical Cable Consumables is the standard cleaners and fiber.
OGI items are being discontinued industrywide. It is recommended that customers use Cisco Any Service Any Port (ASAP) optical modules which allow LC connected cables. Currently there are no customers required to trade in products in Table 2 above. Generally speaking customers can use the Cisco Technology Migration Plan (TMP) to trade in products and receive credit toward the purchase of new Cisco equipment.
