Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco® ONS 15454 MSPP Universal BackPlane Interface Adapter, Vertical Orientation, and its DS1 and DS3 Cables. The last day to order the affected product is September 30, 2007. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 in EoL product bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco ONS 15454 MSPP Universal BackPlane Interface Adapter, Vertical Orientation, and Its DS1 and DS3 Cables. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
The recommended replacement is the Universal BackPlane Interface Adapter, horizontal orientation. Horizontal orientation enables better cable management because the cables can be dressed directly out toward the side of the shelf and then up or down the rack. Customers who migrate or select the horizontal orientation can select from a greater range of cable length offerings, specifically 11 for DS1 and 13 for DS3. The cable lengths range from 25 to 655 feet for the DS1 and 25 to 450 feet for the DS3.

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
The recommended replacement for the Cisco ONS 15454 MSPP Universal BackPlane Interface Adapter, Vertical Orientation, and its DS1 and DS3 Cables is the Cisco ONS 15454 MSPP Universal BackPlane Interface Adapter, Horizontal Orientation, and Its DS1 and DS3 Cables.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the adapter with horizontal orientation. Information about this product can be found at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/optical/ps2006/index.html. Horizontal orientation enables better cable management, and the replacement adapter gives customers a greater selection of cable lengths as well as reduced cable costs.
Customers can use the Cisco Technology Migration Plan (TMP) to trade in products and receive credit toward the purchase of new Cisco equipment. For more information about Cisco TMP, go to: http://www.cisco.com/go/tradein/. The Cisco TMP application requires all users to have a Cisco.com user ID.
Customers may be able to continue to purchase the end-of-sale product through the Cisco Authorized Refurbished Equipment program.
