All Deployments
Release 8.5.1
|
Release 8.5.2
|
Users can lock meetings through the following options:
• Pressing #4 from the phone
• Selecting the appropriate option from the Cisco WebEx web meeting room
|
The ability to lock meetings is distinguished as follows:
MeetingPlace-scheduled and WebEx-scheduled deployments that include a web meeting:
• The #4 option from the phone is not supported
• The knock request from the web meeting room is not supported
Audio-only meetings and MeetingPlace personal conferences (a MeetingPlace personal conference is an audio-only reservationless meeting in WebEx-scheduling deployments):
• Users can still lock meetings by pressing the #4 option from the phone
• The knock request is still supported
• The meeting host can lock/unlock the meeting from the Cisco WebEx interface
If the knock request is not available, callers are told that the meeting is locked and are returned to the main menu. Callers can then hang up, join another meeting, or try to contact the meeting host another way to request entry to the meeting.
|
Conference Manager Enhancements
|
Conference Manager displays outdialed participants as guest users, showing only the outdialed phone number but not the name of the participant.
|
Conference Manager displays the full name of any outdialed participants instead of their phone number. The name of the outdialed participant is displayed in the same format as seen in the WebEx meeting room.
|
Breakout rooms are assigned a number from 1 to 9.
|
Conference Manager users are able to provide a custom name for a breakout session in a given meeting. Any of the 9 breakout rooms can be renamed to something more meaningful to a particular meeting. The new name applies to one meeting only and is not carried over to other meetings.
|
--
|
A new menu item from the In-Session monitoring window called Voice Identification allows users to hear a voice identification prompt for selected participants. Users must be signed in through the VUI with the same profile account as in Conference Manager.
|
There is no visual indication in the In-Session monitoring window that an audio participant in a breakout room is speaking.
|
A new icon in the In-Session monitoring window visually displays when an audio participant is speaking in a breakout room.
|

|
Meetings scheduled from Cisco WebEx use the profile number of the meeting scheduler as the default meeting ID.
|
Meetings scheduled from Cisco WebEx that include web conferencing are automatically assigned a 9-digit meeting ID by the system.
Meetings that are audio or video-only continue to use the profile number of the meeting scheduler as the meeting ID.
|
Users are responsible for entering the entire phone number, including country codes and external access codes, to have the system dial out to them so that they can join the audio portion of a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace meeting.
|
The target number from outdials that are enabled through TSP messaging is presented to Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) in the E.164 format. Also, MeetingPlace adds a plus (+) to the beginning of the phone number when dialing out to users from the Cisco WebEx web meeting room.
You must create a dial rule to route internal numbers on CUCM if you want to enable dialing extensions.

–
Customers may need to configure Cisco Unified Communications Manager call route patterns so that the E.164 number is routed to the correct internal IP phone number.
–
We recommend that you advise your end-user base of this product behavior change.
WebEx-Scheduling Deployments Only
•
WebEx-scheduling deployments do not support continuous meetings.
–
If continuous meetings are required, they must be on a separate MeetingPlace-scheduling system.
•
"Failover Server" feature is no longer supported in this deployment. However, this functionality is replaced with the multinode configuration.
•
Reservationless Single Number Access (RSNA) functionality is replaced with the multinode configuration.

To bring a system from Release 7.x or Release 8.0 to Release 8.5 requires that you reformat the entire disk and load a new operating system. This is true even when you reuse the same hardware. Because of this, you must run a utility on the Release 7.x or 8.0 system to save your system data to the network before loading Release 8.5. You can then import the saved system data to the Release 8.5 system from the network.
–
First install Release 8.5.4, then restore preserved data to Release 8.5.4.
Note
If you are migrating from a deployment with MeetingPlace-scheduling to a Release 8.5 deployment with WebEx-scheduling, then you must provision a new Cisco WebEx site. You cannot use your existing Cisco WebEx site.
•
Upgrades from Release 8.5 to later versions of Release 8.5
–
Once Release 8.5 is loaded on the system, standard upgrades are supported.
–
If you are at Release 8.5.1, then first upgrade the Application Server to Release 8.5.2, then upgrade directly from Release 8.5.2 to Release 8.5.4.
–
If you have one, upgrade the Web Server to Release 8.5.4.
–
In a multinode system, nodes can be upgraded one at a time. The system will still hold conferences while nodes are being upgraded. However configuration changes will be limited until the upgrade is complete.

•

PhoneView Limitations
Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5 does not support the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace PhoneView integration in multinode configurations. This results in the following behavior when using the MeetingPlace Conference Manager:
•
Your system is configured for multinode and you initiate a meeting from the PhoneView application.
•
Since the PhoneView integration is not supported, MeetingPlace Conference Manager has no knowledge of the meeting and is therefore unable to display any meeting status information, such as In Session or Ended messages.
•
The meeting proceeds on the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system, but MeetingPlace Conference Manager has no record of it.
MeetingPlace Conference Manager
Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5.2 and later supports a maximum of 60 simultaneous Conference Manager sessions as follows:
•
In WebEx-scheduling deployments, a maximum of 60 simultaneous sessions are supported for monitoring or in-session activities only.
•
In MeetingPlace-scheduling deployments, a maximum of 20 sessions can be actively involved with scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling meeting operations. All other sessions, up to the maximum of 60, can be involved with monitoring or in-session activities.
Cisco WebEx Limitations
Cisco WebEx Event Center and Training Center are not compatible with Apple Mac systems.
Migrations
If you have a Release 8.0 system with Cisco WebEx scheduling, MeetingPlace-driven User Management, and SSO integration, then after a migration, your Release 8.5 system will not support custom session types. If you attempt to use custom session types after migration, then non-default configurations will reset.
Cisco WebEx Node for MCS Limitations
Cisco WebEx Node for MCS has the following limitations when used with WebEx-scheduling deployments and is therefore not recommended for WebEx-scheduling deployments:
•
The following WebEx features are not supported when an internal meeting is launched from Cisco WebEx Node:
–
High-quality WebEx video
–
Recordings on-premise
–
WebEx video file streaming
•
Cisco WebEx Node for MCS does not support any HTTP or SOCKS proxy servers. Allow direct accesss to WebEx Site IPs directly through firewall settings.
•
Cisco WebEx Node for MCS is currently not supported with the WebEx Global Site Backup system. If you want a fully redundant option with GSB, submit a new Cisco WebEx Node request to WebEx Provisioning to deploy a redundant node that is `homed' to the GSB data center instead of the primary. You must deploy an MCS or UCS with the Cisco WebEx Node for MCS software for this function in your network.
Recording Limitations
If your system is configured for WebEx-scheduling, the system does not support the starting of a recording from the phone.
TLS/SRTP Limitations
If your system is configured for secure conferencing (TLS/SRTP), there is a maximum audio port limitation of 249 ports per system.
Note
In Release 8.5.1, TLS/SRTP is supported for MeetingPlace-scheduling and audio-only deployments that use the Hardware Media Server.
In Release 8.5.2 and later, TLS/SRTP is also supported for MeetingPlace-scheduling and audio-only deployments that use the Express Media Server.
For further details, see the System Requirements for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5 at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/ps5664/ps5669/products_device_support_tables_list.html.
Localization Limitations
Customers who migrate from a system with MeetingPlace-driven user management to WebEx-driven user management have the following limitations.
•
User profiles with UK or Australian English language settings are mapped to US English language settings. These users will hear US English audio prompts.
•
User profiles with French-Canadian language settings are mapped to French (France) language settings. These users will hear French (France) audio prompts.
Closed Caveats
These caveats have been closed, which means that Cisco acknowledges that there is a problem but chooses not to fix it. See the "Using Bug Toolkit" section for information about accessing these caveats.

Important Notes
•
Third-Party Software Policy
•
Microsoft Updates or Patches
Third-Party Software Policy
Cisco Unified MeetingPlace is extensively tested in its supported hardware and software environment. Diverging from the supported hardware and software environment by adding third-party components may negatively impact Cisco Unified MeetingPlace functionality and may impose limitations to your Cisco support.
Cisco qualifies a fixed set of required third-party software, including remote-access and antivirus. This set is documented in the System Requirements document for each release. Any third-party components that are not explicitly listed in the System Requirements documentation are not supported.
Microsoft Updates or Patches
Do not apply operating system updates or patches directly from Microsoft on your Cisco MCS. Cisco qualifies such updates and patches for its applications and then makes them available to customers. Customers can sign up to be notified of available updates through the following URL: http://www.cisco.com/cisco/support/notifications.html.

Online Help for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5.2 and Later
The administrator's online help for Release 8.5.2 and later fails to mention the following enhancements to the MeetingPlace Conference Manager:
•
Conference Manager displays the full name of any outdialed participants instead of their phone number. The name of the outdialed participant is displayed in the same format as seen in the WebEx meeting room (first and last name).
•
Conference Manager users are able to provide a custom name for a breakout session in a given meeting. Any of the nine breakout rooms can be renamed to something more meaningful to a particular meeting. The new name applies to one meeting only and is not carried over to other meetings.
•
A new menu item from the In-Session monitoring window called Voice Identification allows users to hear a voice identification prompt for selected participants. Users must be signed in through the VUI with the same profile account as in Conference Manager.
•
A new icon in the In-Session monitoring window visually displays when an audio participant is speaking in a breakout room.
Using Bug Toolkit
Known problems (bugs) are graded according to severity level. These release notes contain descriptions of the following:
•
All severity level 1 or 2 bugs.
