Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5
Release 8.5
Revised: 1/30/12
This section describes the order in which you should install and configure the components of the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system for Release 8.5. It assumes that you are starting with a fresh system and not updating an existing system. For information about upgrading a Release 8.5 system to Release 8.5.2 or later, see Upgrading from Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5.1. For information about updating other releases, see Migration Overview.

Determining Which Components to Install
•
When you install the Application Server, you select the type of media server that you want to install. Based on that choice, follow the order in one of these sections:
–
Hardware Media Server Order of Installation
–
Express Media Server Order of Installation
•
Depending on the web deployment model that you choose, you may not have to install and configure a web server. For complete information about the components required for your web deployment, see the Planning Guide for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5 at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/ps5664/ps5669/products_implementation_design_guides_list.html.
•
You can also install optional integrations. See the About Installing Integrations.

Hardware Media Server Order of Installation
The following table describes the steps required to install and configure the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system for Release 8.5.
Note
Only follow this installation if you are installing a Hardware Media Server. If your deployment will use an Express Media Server, follow the instructions in the Express Media Server Order of Installation.

Install the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Application Server software onto a Cisco Media Convergence Server (MCS) or a virtual machine on a VMware ESXi 4.1 host on a UCS B-Series or C-Series Server.
Installing the Application Server also installs the Cisco Security Agent and the Media Server Administration (which is used for the Hardware Media Server) on the same Cisco server.
Choose the Hardware Media Server (HMS) during the installation.
Note If you are deploying a multinode system, then install the Application Server on each node.

Physically install the Hardware Media Server chassis and blades.
• The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace 3515 Media Server audio and video interfaces are a fixed integrated chassis design.
• The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace 3545 Media Server requires you to install the Audio and Video Blades. You can install a total of four Audio or Video Blades in this four slot chassis.

Configure the Hardware Media Server network interface through the serial port connection:
• Set the Audio Blade IP address, default gateway, subnet mask, and Ethernet link speed/duplexing.
• Set the Video Blade IP address, default gateway, subnet mask, and Ethernet link speed/duplexing.
• Set the SNMP community names.
• Set the IP address of the audio port.

As required, install the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server software and Gateway SIM onto a Cisco MCS or a virtual machine on a VMware ESXi 4.1 host on a UCS B-Series or C-Series Server.
Note the following:
• Deployments with WebEx scheduling do not require a Web Server.
• Audio deployments do not require an internal Web Server unless you want:
– Web Server scheduling interface
– Cisco Unified MeetingPlace user interface for IBM Lotus Notes integration
– Audio or Audio/video recordings with an optional, customer provided SAN/NAS storage option
• Depending on your system configuration, you may choose to install the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server software on more than one server.
• For information about deployments that do not use a web server, the Planning Guide for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5 at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/ps5664/ps5669/products_implementation_design_guides_list.html.

As required, install the Cisco WebEx Node for MCS on a MCS or on a virtual machine.
Note Installing the Cisco WebEx Node for MCS is optional for external meetings. It is not required if your system is audio only. If your system will include web functionality with internal only meetings, then you must install the Cisco WebEx Node for MCS.
Note The Cisco WebEx Node for MCS does not support recordings for internal only meetings.
Note This Cisco WebEx Node for MCS is an optional component of the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system. It is not to be confused with the Cisco WebEx Node for ASR and cannot be used for a WebEx SaaS implementation.
