Introduction
Supporting up to 960 IP connections, the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 works with the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server system to provide meeting access to callers. The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server supports connections from up to 16 IP gateway servers; this multigateway support provides network load balancing and system redundancy.

Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Requirements
The following are the requirements for the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway:
•
One primary IP address for communication with the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server
•
Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1
Hardware Requirements
Your system must have one of the following Cisco Media Convergence Server (MCS) 7800 series servers with the Cisco Systems version of the Microsoft Windows 2000 server operating system installed:
•
Cisco MCS 7835
•
Cisco MCS 7845
•
Cisco MCS 7855
•
Cisco MCS 7865
Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server Requirements
The following are the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server requirements for the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway:
•
Cisco Unified MeetingPlace 8100 series server with Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server Release 5.2 or a later release installed.
•
You must configure the Multi Access Blade for IP.
•
There must be one primary IP address for communication with the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 server and other gateways and clients.
•
You must assign one additional IP address for every 240 IP user licenses.
Cisco Unified CallManager Requirements
Note
The names for Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.3, Release 5.1, and Release 6.0 have been changed to Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 4.3, Release 5.1, and Release 6.0.
The names of Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.0, Release 4.1, Release 4.2, and Release 5.0 have not changed and remain the same.
Cisco Unified CallManager Release 3.22 or a later release must be installed and configured to work with your network.
Endpoint Requirements
The following are the endpoint requirements for the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway:
•
Cisco Unified IP Phone that is configured to work with one of the following applications:
–
Cisco Unified CallManager Release 3.22 or a later release
–
Cisco SIP Proxy Server Release 1.0 or a later release
•
H.323 endpoints
•
PSTN phone that is connected to a configured voice gateway
Network Requirements
For the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 server to communicate with the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server, ensure that your network meets the following requirements:
•
The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server and the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 server must be located on the same subnet.
•
The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 server must be inside the corporate firewall and must be able to access the softswitch—for example, Cisco Unified CallManager, H.323 gatekeeper, or Cisco SIP Proxy Server—by using H.323 or SIP.
•
The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 server must be able to open a TCP connection on port 5003 when connecting to a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server.
•
The secondary Ethernet connections—those that are connected to the Multi Access Blade and not the second Ethernet port on the CPU card—on the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server must be connected to the same subnet as the corporate network to which your Cisco Unified IP phone is connected.
•
The Ethernet switch port or any other network devices to which the Multi Access Blade connects directly must be set to fixed 100Base-TX full duplex; if not, you may experience decreased voice quality.
•
If G.711 codec is configured, a dedicated 100 Mbps subnet is required for each MA-16 connection; if not, the voice quality may be degraded.
•
From the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway server standpoint, the IP address of the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server must not be translated by using a Network Address Translation (NAT) routing scheme.
•
Connectivity between the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 server and the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server must be high quality and not subject to interruptions because of traffic congestion. Any time the round-trip latency exceeds 100 milliseconds or there is more than one percent packet loss, expect a noticeable reduction in service quality.
•
If Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 is installed on a server with more than one IP address, for outdials to work you must define a gateway for each IP address either in Cisco Unified CallManager, Cisco SIP Proxy Server, or H.323 Gatekeeper.

Note
Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 is not compatible with Cisco Security Agent (CSA). We recommend that you do not install CSA on a gateway server where Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 is or will be installed.
If CSA is installed on an end-user system, users will see a security alert when they attempt to use the application-sharing feature. Users can choose to proceed with the feature and use application-sharing without difficulty.

If you have Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Video Integration, you must set the Cisco Unified Videoconferencing MCU codec preferences to match the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server codec preferences.

Procedure
Step 1
To access the Bug Toolkit, go to http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/action.do?hdnAction=searchBugs.
Step 2
Log in with your Cisco.com user ID and password.
Step 3
To look for information about a specific problem, enter the bug ID number in the "Search for Bug ID" field, then click Go.

Open Caveats
There are no open caveats in Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1.

Errors
This section lists changes to the current Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway documentation and gives corrected information. The correct information will be incorporated in a future documentation release.
Information About Configuring Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Software Release 5.2.1 for Use WithCisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing
In the "Information About ConfiguringCisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Software Release 5.2.1 for Use With Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing" section in the "Configuring Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Software" chapter, the first paragraph is incorrect. The second sentence should be removed so the first paragraph will read as follows:
You can install Release 5.2.1 on either the same or separate server as Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing. Release 5.2.1 uses the primary address, and you must configure Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing to use the secondary address. If Release 5.2.1 is installed on a server with more than one IP address, you must define a gateway for each IP address either in Cisco Unified CallManager, Cisco SIP Proxy server, or H.323 Gatekeeper for outdials to work.
How to Configure Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Release 5.2.1 for Use With Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing
The "How to Configure Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Software Release 5.2.1 for Use With Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing" section in the "Configuring Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway Software" chapter should be removed entirely.
Using MeetingPlace IP Gateway with MeetingPlace Web (Release 5.3 and later only)
Note
The following change is only for systems that are using Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing Release 5.3 and later. If you are using Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing Release 5.2.1 or earlier, keep the document as is and do not make this change.
In the "Using MeetingPlace IP Gateway with MeetingPlace Web" section in the "Managing Cisco MeetingPlace IP Gateway" chapter, the first paragraph is not accurate for this release. Disregard the second and third sentences so the first paragraph will read as follows:
MeetingPlace IP Gateway can be installed on either the same or separate Windows server as MeetingPlace Web.
In this same section, disregard the following subsections entirely:
