Step 1
Remove the table stand assembly (carton 2, part no. CTS500-STRUC-TABL) from its packaging.
Step 2
Assemble the table stand using the instructions that are provided in the assembly kit.
Step 3
Place the table stand on the table.
Step 4
Using at least two people, attach the display screen assembly to the table stand by sliding the buttons on the display screen assembly into the keyhole slots in the table stand.
Tip
although the stand can be adjusted vertically to accommodate different users, it is recommended that you use a table that is 74 centimeters (29 inches) high.

Step 5
Remove the display top rear cover from the display.
Figure 4-2 Removing Display Top Rear Cover
Step 6
Connect the cables to the following connections on the top of the display:
•
Connect the speaker connections to the spade terminal connections. The cables are labeled red for the right speaker and white for the left.
Note
Because you are viewing the display from the rear, left and right are reversed.
•
Connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet connection for the camera.
•
Connect the DVI cable to the DVI camera connection.

Step 7
Replace the display top rear cover.
Tip
To make cover replacement easier, tie the wires together with a zip tie and make sure that the ferrite cores on the wires are outside of the cover.
Figure 4-4 Replacing the Display Top Rear Cover
Step 8
Connect the cables to the following connections on the underside of the display:
•
If it is not already connected, connect the HD video cable to the HD video connection for the display.
•
Connect the power cord to the power inlet. Use the power cord that does not have a 90 degree right angle at the power inlet; the part number is 37-0984-01.
Note
Keep the power and signal cables separate; do not connect the power and signal cables together.
•
Connect the microphone. The microphone connection is on the lower rear of the display.
•
(Optional) Connect the Auxiliary HD Video connection to the Digital Media Player (DMP).

Step 9
Remove the CTS-500-37 codec from its packaging.
Step 10
Remove the mounting bracket that is closest to the power inlet and power switch from the codec by unfastening the four screws.
Note
This bracket is referred to as the left bracket in the following steps; this side of the codec is the left side during assembly of your CTS-500-37.
Figure 4-6 Removing the Handle/Mounting Bracket (Power Inlet/Left side)
Step 11
Insert the tab of the rear cover in the slot between the right handle/mounting bracket and the codec.

Step 12
Insert the lower part of the right handle/mounting bracket into the mounting base, making sure that the notched part of the base hooks under the handle.
Figure 4-8 Right Handle/Mounting Bracket and Mounting Base
Step 13
Reattach the left handle/mounting bracket to the codec assembly by refastening the four screws.
Figure 4-9 Left Handle/Mounting Bracket and Codec Assembly
Step 14
Connect the cable bundle to the codec as follows:
•
Connect the Ethernet cable from the display to the white camera Ethernet connection.
•
Connect the microphone cable to the microphone connection.
•
Connect the left speaker to the white speaker connection. This connection is also indicated by two dots.
•
Connect the right speaker cable to the red speaker connection. This connection is also indicated by three dots.
•
Connect the HD video cable to the HD video display connection.
Step 15
Attach the remaining cables to the codec as follows:
•
Connect the power cord to the power inlet. Use the power cord that has a 90 degree right angle at the power inlet; the part number is 37-0983-01.
Caution
Do not yet connect the cord to an active power source.
•
Connect an Ethernet cable to the Cisco Unified IP Phone Ethernet connection indicated by a white phone icon on the CTS-500-37 codec. Connect the other side of this connection to the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7975.
•
Connect a network cable to the network connection on the codec. Connect the other side of this connection to an external network connection.
•
(Optional) Connect the DVI connector from the DVI-to-VGA cable bundle to the Presentation Source In connection.
•
(Optional) Connect the DMP Audio or Presentation Audio connection to one of the following input sources:
–
The audio connection from the DVI-to-VGA cable bundle
–
The audio connection from the DMP
Note
You can configure the DMP audio to play when you are not in a TelePresence call. For more information, see the "Testing the LEDs and Light Fixture and Configuring the Digital Media Player Audio" section on page 5-21.
Figure 4-10 shows the required connections for the CTS-500-37 codec.
Figure 4-10 Cable Connections for the Codec
Step 16
Place the left end cap on the CTS-500-37 codec assembly.
Note
The left end cap has an access slot for the power-on switch. The right end cap does not have this slot.
Figure 4-11 Left End Cap
Step 17
Attach the top cover to the CTS-500-37 codec assembly with two screws and route the cables through the hole in the rear center of the cover.
Note
The hole for the cables is not visible in Figure 4-12; it faces the rear of the codec.
Tip
If your installation does not have enough space behind the codec to route the cables through the hole in the top cover, route the cables through either the left or right end cap.
Note
Tighten the screws until they are snug but do not overtighten.
Figure 4-12 Top Cover
Step 18
Attach the end caps to the CTS-500-37 codec assembly and fasten them with the screws.
Note
Tighten the screws until they are snug but do not overtighten.
Figure 4-13 Right End Cap
Step 19
Remove the light reflector panel from carton 5 and slide the light reflector panel into the display screen assembly.
Note
If you encounter problems when you mount the panel, remove the light fixture by lifting it straight up and disconnecting the wiring connector on the left side of the assembly; then, mount the light reflector panel and replace and reconnect the light fixture. See Figure 4-16 for an example of light fixture removal.

When you complete the table stand assembly, the finished table assembly looks like Figure 4-18.
Figure 4-18 Table Assembly, Complete
Step 21
Route the cables so that they are hidden between the codec and the table stand-mounted display screen assembly.
Step 22
Make preliminary adjustments to the vertical height of the display.
•
If the user is available, complete the following steps:
a.
Have the user sit where they will be using the CTS-500-37.
b.
Unscrew the adjustment knob at the rear of the CTS-500-37.
c.
Grasp the sides of the display and raise or lower the display to adjust the vertical height.
Make sure that the user is at least 4 feet (1.2 meters) away from the display.
d.
Tighten the adjustment knob when you reach the correct height.
Figure 4-19 Vertical Height Adjustment of Display—Known User Height
•
If the user height is unknown, unscrew the knob and raise or lower the display using the following guidelines.
Figure 4-20 Vertical Height Adjustment of Display—Unknown User Height
Step 23
Peel off the protective plastic film from the front of the display.
Step 24
(Optional) attach the cable management holder to its attachment point by completing the steps in the "Installing the External Presentation Cable Holder" section
Installing the External Presentation Cable Holder
The CTS-500-37 includes a DVI-to-VGA cable that allows you to connect your system to an external presentation source. A cable holder is included with the CTS-500-37 system to assist in the management and routing of this cable. You route the cable from the codec to the location of the presentation source (for example, a laptop computer) and install the cable holder at that location.
See Table 4-2 for the list of parts that are required for this assembly procedure. The parts are keyed to numbers; use these numbers to refer to the parts in the illustrations.
