Chapter 1, "Overview" (this chapter)

Provides chapter organization and content of this document and includes an overview of the assembly steps you perform.

Chapter 2, "Room Recommendations for the Cisco TelePresence System 3210" (this chapter)

Provides room recommendation information for your Cisco TelePresence 3210 system.

Chapter 3, "Installing the Display Assembly"

This chapter describes the steps you perform to assemble the three Display structures, connect them, and position them in the conference room.

•The steps are described in a series of illustrations.

•Each illustration builds upon the previous illustration to describe the complete process of building the Display assembly.

•Each illustration is keyed numerically to the Chapter Parts List, appearing at the beginning of the chapter. You can refer to the Parts List to identify the specific fastener or mechanical piece being used in an illustration.

•Additional information may appear below each illustration.

Chapter 4, "Installing the Lighting Assembly and Codecs"

•This chapter describes the steps you perform to build the lighting assembly.

Chapter 5, "Mounting the Displays and Building the Display Shelf Assembly"

•This chapter describes the procedure you perform to attach the mounting hardware to the display, mount the display, and install the display shelves to the display frames.

Chapter 6, "Building the First Row Table Assembly"

•This chapter is organized the same as Chapter 2.

Chapter 8, "Assembling the Cisco TelePresence Peripheral Electrical Components"

•This chapter is organized the same as Chapter 2.

•Each element has a Parts List at the beginning of the chapter.

•Each element is described using one or more illustrations. The elements are:

–Camera assembly—attaches to the center display structure

–Microphone assembly—attach to the three table segments

–Table Leg Wiring assembly—wired for power and network connectivity

–Privacy Panel assembly—attach to the table segments

–Codec assembly—attach to each Display structure

–40-inch LCD display and speaker covers—attach to the underside of the Display shelf

–Cisco IP Phone 7975G

–Camera Target assembly - used for camera focus and alignment

•A series of illustrations are used to describe the routing and connection of all power and signal cables.

•This chapter provides the procedures you perform to set up a Cisco TelePresence system for the first time.

•This chapter describes removal and replacement processes for various elements of the Cisco TelePresence System 3210.

•This appendix lists all parts included in the individual chapter parts lists, and sorts the list by carton.

•This appendix lists the part numbers for all region- and country-specific equipment, including table leg wiring and power cords.

Appendix C, "Cisco TelePresence System 3210 Pallet Dimensions and Description"

•This appendix list the size and number of pallets, and a description of the contents of the cartons.

Assembly Overview

Perform the following steps to install a CTS 3210:

Step 1 Unpack and arrange the display stands.

Step 2 Install the camera bracket on top of the middle display stand.

Step 3 Add the display shelf support arms and display hanger rod to the display stands.

Step 4 Install the angle brackets between the stands.

Step 5 Measure the distance between outside legs of left and right display stand.

Note There should be 138 7/8 inches (353 cm) between the outside edges of the outside legs of the right and left display stand.

Step 6 Perform initial leveling procedures for the display stands.

Step 7 Install the top reflector brackets.

Step 8 Install the top reflectors to the top of the display stands.

Step 9 Install the reflector transition pieces in between the top reflectors.

Step 10 Attach the side reflector brackets to the side reflectors.

Step 11 Attach the side reflectors and brackets to the display stands.

Step 12 Attach the light cup to the side reflectors.

Step 13 Attach the corner pieces of the reflectors to the display stand.

Step 14 Install the lights.

Step 15 Install the codecs from the rear of the display assembly.

Note Make sure that the Cisco logo faces towards the rear of the system.

Step 16 Install the cable routing trays to the rear of the system.

Step 17 Install and connect the cables for the codec, then route the cables using the cable routing trays.

Step 18 Attach the monitor mounting plates to the display stands.

Step 19 Attach the spool stud and spools to the rear of the displays.

Step 20 Mount the displays to the display stands.

Step 21 Install the diffusers.

Step 22 Install the display shelves.

Step 23 Level the displays horizontally and vertically.

Step 24 Attach the sheet metal cable ties.

Step 25 Attach the spool locks.

Step 26 Install the remaining table pieces.

Step 27 Install the table door.

Step 28 Install the second row table assembly.

Step 29 Level the table sections.

Step 30 Attach the camera to the camera bracket.

Step 31 Install and connect the cables for the camera.

Step 32 (Optional) route the cables for the participant Ethernet and power connections.

Step 33 Add the privacy panel covers.

Step 34 Add the PDU and privacy panel sections to the table.

Step 35 Prepare the white speaker screens for installation.

Step 36 Move and position the speaker screen through the hole in table door.

Step 37 Install the LCD presentation display on the LCD hanging rod.

Step 38 Move and position the left speaker screen through the hole in the table door.

Step 39 Perform final adjustments to the speaker screens.

Step 40 Complete the system cabling.

Step 41 Cover the cable trays in the rear of the display gutter panels (for the cables) in the rear of the system.

Step 42 Perform first-time setup using the instructions in Chapter 11, "First-Time Setup."

Conventions and Terminology

•The directions left and right in this guide are synonymous with participant's left and participant's right. They refer to the assembly as you face the Plasma displays.

•Cable connections to the Codecs are labeled with a color-coded symbol system.

–A single dot on a green background indicates a center element.

–Two dots on a white background indicate a left element.

–Three dots on a red background indicate a right element.

Note A fourth speaker connection on the codec to the right of the three elements is marked with an X. Use this connection for the far right speaker connection.

Tools and Equipment List

To assemble the Cisco TelePresence 3210, you need the following tools and equipment:

Uncrating and Unpacking:

•Claw hammer or small pry bar

•Large Phillips screwdriver

•Tin snips*

•Pallet jack or hand cart (for moving component boxes to installation site)*

•Safety gloves*

•Safety glasses*

•Box cutters*

Cisco TelePresence System 3210 Structure, Accessory, and Adjustment Assembly:

•Power screwdriver with 3, 4, 5, and 6 mm (standard or round) Allen bits, or standard 3, 4, 5, and 6 mm Allen wrenches

Tip A round-head Allen bit can work at an angle instead of just straight out, a helpful feature in tight spots.

•Manual screwdrivers, #2 and #4 Phillips and flathead types

•Metric wrenches, 10 to 15 mm

•9/64-inch Allen wrench (included with speakers)

•Tape measure

•Level

•Masking tape*

•Tie wraps*

•Knee pads or kneeling cushion*

•Laptop computer attached to network (for troubleshooting or reference)*

•Hand vacuum or facilities vacuum*

•Stepladder (for installing light reflectors, lights, and diffusers

•Mechanical lift (optional, for hanging display screens)

•Flashlight (for finding the connections for the 40-inch LCD display)

•Mirror (for finding the connections for the 40-inch LCD display)
