Caution 
The display structures are unstable during assembly. Use caution, and support all structures as required.
Caution Some system components have metal and plastic edges with hard angles. These edges are exposed until you complete system assembly. Use caution when you move around the system during assembly to avoid contact with any exposed system edges.

Warning Only trained and qualified personnel should be allowed to install, replace, or service this equipment.

Note The directions left and right refer to the assembly as you face the Plasma displays.
Required and Recommended Tools and Equipment
The following tools are required to install a Cisco TelePresence 3010 system. Tools that are recommended but not required are indicated by an asterisk.
•#1 Phillips screwdriver
•Level
Note Cisco recommends a laser level, which greatly speeds the process of levelling the entire system
•Claw hammer or small pry bar (for unpacking)
•Tin snips* (recommended for unpacking)
•Pallet jack or hand cart* (recommended for moving component boxes to installation site)
•Safety gloves
•Safety glasses*
•Box cutters*
•Power screwdriver with 3, 4, 5, and 6 mm (standard or round) Allen bits, or standard 3, 4, 5, and 6 mm Allen wrenches
Tip A round-head Allen bit can work at an angle instead of just straight out, a helpful feature in tight spots.
•Knee pads or kneeling cushion*
•Laptop computer attached to network (for troubleshooting or reference)*
•Hand vacuum or facilities vacuum*
Installing the Display Assembly
To install the display assembly and displays, complete the steps in the following procedure.
Step 1 Unpack the display stand and move the stands to the installation area.
Tip Cisco recommends that you move the stands by carrying them horizontally, using two people.

Step 2 Remove the zip ties from the stands.
Tip Lay the stands on the ground where you want them to be during final assembly,

Step 3 Raise and perform initial setup of the stands by completing the following steps:
a. Adjust the stand feet so that the feet are adjusted approximately 3/4 inches (2 cm) out from the stand base.
Adjusting the feet makes it easier to perform the leveling tasks that you perform later in this procedure.
b. Raise the stand until it is erect and secure the stand posts to the stand base.

Step 4 Arrange the stands until they are at approximately the correct angle to each other.

Step 5 Center the stands within the room.
Tip Use the notch in the center of the codec tray to find the exact center of the system.

Step 6 Attach the upper angle brackets to the display stands.
Note Use the arrows on the upper and lower brackets to find the correct attachment points.
The upper and lower brackets are interchangeable with each other; however, the left and right brackets are not interchangeable.

Step 7 Attach the lower angle brackets to the display stands.

Step 8 Attach the camera bracket to the center display stand.

Step 9 Attach the display stand support arms to the right and left display stands by completing the following steps:
a. Loosen the screws on the side of the display stand to allow the display shelf support arms to slip over the screw heads.
a. Slide the display stand support arms over the screws that you loosened in Step a.
Note Do not use the arms with the blue flipper arms; you use these arms for the center display stand.
b. Tighten the screws.

Step 10 Attach the left display shelf support arm to the center display stand.
Note Attach the arm so that the blue flipper on the arm faces left (on the outside of the stand).

Step 11 Attach the right display shelf support arm to the center display stand and display hanger rod.
Note Attach the arm so that the blue flipper on the arm faces right (on the outside of the stand).

Step 12 Attach the presentation display hanger rod to the two center display shelf support arms.
Tip If required, loosen the stands

Step 13 Measure the following distances:
•The distance between the display stand legs and the wall
Note Using the measurements provided in Figure 3-13, there will be approximately 3 inches (8 cm) of space between the light reflector and the wall. These minimum dimensions can make installation of the light reflector, cable routing, and attachment of system components difficult. If your room size and room lighting pattern allow extra space, add extra space to these minimum measurements.
•The distance between the outside legs of the left and right display stands.
Note For the distance between the left and right display stands, measure the distance from the outer edge of each leg.

Step 14 Attach the monitor mounting plates to the display stands.
Note To allow you to perform leveling adjustments after you install the display, do not overtighten the Phillips head screw (callout 12 in the illustration); keep the screw finger-tight.

Step 15 Using the laser or spirit level, make sure that the stands and angle brackets are level to each other.
Tip For accurate the efficient leveling, Cisco recommends that you use a laser level for this step and for all leveling procedures. If a laser level is not available, use a spirit level.

After you build the display assembly, you add the lights and associated hardware (light reflectors and diffusers) to the display assembly. Continue to Chapter 4 "Installing the Lighting Assembly and Codecs," to build the lighting assembly.
