SPE Used for Cisco Unity Voice Mail
The following items are required for installing Cisco Unity Voice Mail on the SPE:
•
Hardware—SPE 310 (700-MHz Pentium III processor).
•
SPE Software—The SPE, which is ordered as a spare, has the following software preloaded:
–
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 2 and Hot Fixes
–
ICS Core Software
Administrator Workstation
The administrator workstation is used to administer Cisco Unity Voice Mail.
Workstations require the following hardware and software components to support the Cisco Unity Administrator application:
•
Processor: Pentium II 200 MHz, minimum or faster.
•
Memory: 64 MB of RAM minimum; 128 MB are recommended. For Windows 2000 Professional, 128 MB are required.
•
Operating System: Windows 95/98, Windows NT, or Windows 2000.
•
Internet Explorer 5.5 with Service Pack 1.
•
Symantec pcAnywhere Client.
Software Requirements for Cisco Unity Voice Mail
This following software is required to support the Cisco Unity Voice Mail system:
•
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server—This is the only operating system that is supported for Cisco Unity Voice Mail 3.0(1) on the Cisco ICS 7750. Service Pack 2 and the latest Hot Fixes are also requirements.
•
Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ)—This technology allows applications to send messages to queues and read messages from queues. MSMQ provides message delivery, efficient routing, security, and queuing when systems are temporarily off line.
•
Microsoft Network News Transport Protocol (NNTP) Service—The NNTP Service is part of the Internet Information Services (IIS) components in Windows 2000. It takes advantage of standard Windows 2000 administration tools for performance monitoring and event reporting. When you install NNTP Service, the setup program installs a set of performance monitor counters. All NNTP Service status and error messages are written to event logs for viewing in Event Viewer. NNTP Service also includes support for Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
•
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) Service—The SMTP Service is also part of the IIS components in Windows 2000. It provides a standard for sending mail across the internet. SMTP mail addresses use a username and domain name in the form of name@domain.
•
Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE)—This new database technology provides local data storage that is compatible with Microsoft SQL 7.0. Because MSDE is based on the same data engine as SQL Server, most Microsoft Access projects can run unchanged on either version. MSDE is designed and optimized for use on smaller computer systems. It supports up to 16 voice-mail ports.
•
Microsoft SQL Enterprise Manager—This is the primary administrative tool for MSDE. Enterprise Manager provides a Microsoft Management Console (MMC)-compliant user interface for configuring and troubleshooting the MSDE database.
•
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5—It is recommended that you use this version of Internet Explorer and apply the Service Pack 1 to update the latest security fixes. Newer versions of Internet Explorer have not been fully tested with Cisco Unity Voice Mail 3.0(1).
•
Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server (Standard Edition)—This application is designed specifically for Windows 2000 Server. It is the only version supported for Cisco Unity Voice Mail.
•
Symantec pcAnywhere 10.0—This communication software application is required for Technical Assistance Center (TAC) troubleshooting access to the Cisco Unity Voice Mail system.
•
VERITAS Backup Exec—This is the recommended maintenance application for backing up the Cisco Unity Voice Mail system. This optional software is purchased by the customer.
Summary of Installation Tasks
