Installation Procedures Checklist
For successful installation of Cisco Unity Voice Mail, you should perform, in order, the tasks listed in Table 6-1. These are the tasks for a standard installation.
Assigning Windows Administrator Account Rights
The Windows account that you use for logging in to install Cisco Unity Voice Mail should be the account that is the owner of the Windows services for Cisco Unity Voice Mail. Therefore, this account needs to be an account that owns Cisco Unity Voice Mail services and will not be changed frequently. Cisco Unity Voice Mail services include the following:
•
AvCsMgr
•
AvCsGateway
•
AvDirChangeWriter
•
AvDSAD
•
AvDSGlobalCatalog
•
AvGaenSvr
•
AvRepDiorSvrSvc
•
AvUMRSyncSvr
Caution
If you change the password for the account that owns these services, you must also change the password for each one of the services, or Cisco Unity Voice Mail will not run.
Cisco Unity Voice Mail setup creates a number of Windows accounts. Your login account must have the proper security access to perform required operations. Cisco Unity Voice Mail setup also creates Microsoft Exchange objects that require Microsoft Exchange 2000 permissions. After you install Cisco Unity Voice Mail, you must use this same account to access mailboxes and the directory. It is recommended that you use the same account to install Cisco Unity that you use to install Microsoft Exchange 2000 on the SPE. If you are installing more than one Cisco Unity Voice Mail at a site, you can use the same account to install all of them.
The Microsoft Windows account, which is used for installing and configuring Cisco Unity Voice Mail, must have the following rights:
•
The right to act as part of the operating system
•
The right to log on as a service
The account must also be a member of the Local Administrators group.
Adding the Windows Account Rights
To modify the Windows account for Cisco Unity Voice Mail, you must use the Local Policies section of the Domain Controller Security Policy.
Note
These steps assume that you have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse connected to the SPE for Cisco Unity Voice Mail.
Follow these steps to set up each administrative right, individually:
Step 1
In the Log On to Windows dialog box, log in to the domain, using the administrator username and password.
Step 2
Choose Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Domain Controller Security Policy. The Domain Controller Security Policy window opens.
Step 3
