Finishing the Installation Tasks

After you install Microsoft Exchange 2000, two additional tasks remain:

Creating Organizational Units in Microsoft Exchange 2000

Restarting Services on the SPE

The first task is optional, but you must restart FMM services on the SPEs.

Creating Organizational Units in Microsoft Exchange 2000

When using Microsoft Exchange 2000, all the users and distribution lists are created and stored in the Users folder in Active Directory. If you want to set up custom organizational units with users and distribution lists in separate organizational units, you must create them now. The organizational units and distribution lists need to be in the same domain, but they do not need to be in the same domain as the Cisco Unity Voice Mail server.

For more information about organizational units, refer to the Active Directory Users and Computers online Help.

You can create a custom mailbox store in Microsoft Exchange 2000. Configure Cisco Unity Voice Mail to use that mailbox store as the default store when you set up Cisco Unity Voice Mail. When subscribers are added by means of Cisco Unity Administrator, they will use the custom mailbox store. Subscribers imported from Microsoft Exchange 2000 or imported using a comma separated values (CSV) file will also use the custom mailbox store.

Restarting Services on the SPE

The installation and configuration of Microsoft Exchange 2000 are complete. Follow these steps to restart the FMM services on the SPE running System Manager.

Note If you do not have a monitor, keyboard and mouse connected to the SPE running System Manager, open a Telnet or Hyperterminal session from the workstation or SPE.

Step 1 Choose Start > Run.

Step 2 Enter the following command to open a Telnet session:

telnet IP address of the SPE running System Manager 5000

Step 3 Enter Y to send your password information to the SPE running System Manager.

Step 4 In the Command Prompt window, enter this command to start services:

c:\>net start fmmserver

Step 5 Press Enter, and wait for the confirmation message.

Step 6 Enter this command to start services:

c:\>net start fmmguardian

Step 7 Press Enter, and wait for the confirmation message.

Step 8 Enter the exit command to close the Telnet session.

Step 2 Right-click the FMMServer, and choose Start.

Step 3 Right-click the FMMGuardian, and choose Start.
