This document describes how to troubleshoot Cisco Unity Media Master Control Bar Issues.
There are no specific requirements for this document.
The information in this document is based on Cisco Unity 5.X, 7.x.
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

You are not able to manage media files with Media Master Control Bar and the Media Master Control Bar does not function properly. The pane is blank with a small red "x" that indicates this section did not load.
When you try to access Cisco Unity PCA, the Login failed because the Cisco PCA MediaMaster was not found error message appears. However, the AvMediaMasterCtrl class does appear in the Downloaded Program Files folder, and if it is deleted, it reappears there.
Complete these steps in order to resolve this issue:
Note: All these steps require an Administrator account.
Obtain the cab file from Cisco Unity:
Extract the cab file.
Copy these five files to the C:\WINNT\system32 folder:
Copy these two files to %SystemRoot%\Downloaded Program Files:
Note: The Downloaded Program Files folder is a system folder, so the copy operation is not allowed in a Microsoft Windows Explorer window. It is allowed in a DOS prompt window with the copy command when you use an administrative account.
Issue the regsvr32 /s avmediamasterctrl.ocx command in the command prompt of the PC in order to register the ActiveX control to Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The Media Master Control Bar works now.
Enter http://<IP Address>/CiscoPCA as the URL, and install the Active X control from CiscoPCA rather than from the SAWeb page.
Copy MediaMasENU.cab from CommServer\cscoserv\ciscopca\controls to CommServer\Web, and replace the version of that file already present in that destination directory.

With Cisco Unity, the Media Master Control Bar displays this error: The specified server cannot be found.
This issue can occur if the Media Master Control Bar settings use a Cisco Unity Admin account instead of Cisco Unity Server name or IP address. In order to resolve the issue, make sure that the Media Master Control Bar settings use the correct server name or IP address of the Cisco Unity server.
There is an Active-X issue with the Cisco Unity Admin web page. The pca page does not download the new media master .cab file. This error message appears: Windows has blocked this software because it can’t verify the publisher MediaMasENU.cab
The issue is mentioned in Cisco bug ID CSCsv18289 (registered customers only) . Complete these steps in order to workaround this issue:
Choose Tools > Internet Options in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Click the Security tab, and select Local intranet.
Click Custom Level. This window displays.
For Download unsigned ActiveX controls, change Disable to Enable.
This allows IE to install the mediamas.cab the next time when the page loads.
