Products Affected

ICM/IPCC 4.6(2) upgrading to ICM/IPCC 6.0(0)

Problem Description

Upgrades from ICM/IPCC 4.6(2) to release ICM/IPCC 6.0(0) may fail:

  1. If a large number of agents (5000+) are configured.

  2. Agent passwords may be reset.

  3. Some passwords not encrypted may not be migrated.

Note: This problem affects only the upgrade process. If you have already successfully upgraded to 6.0(0) or have installed the system for the first time, the defect is of no direct consequence to you.

Background

Any attempt to upgrade from 4.6(2) to ICM/IPCC 6.0(0) may have a problem. Delay upgrades until availability of ICM/IPCC 6.0(0)a on August 25, 2004.

Problem Symptoms

  1. During the upgrade of the Logger, HDS, or AW database from ICM/IPCC version 4.6(2) to 6.0(0), the Logger, HDS or AW database is corrupted.

  2. The upgrade process completes normally. After the upgrade all agents have blank passwords. Agents can log in but are not required to provide a password.

  3. An attempt to start the logger may fail with a Minor Version Mismatch error.

Workaround/Solution

Utilize the new 6.0(0)a CD to perform the upgrade. This new CD will be available no later than August 25, 2004.
