Introduction

This document provides a sample configuration for transparent caching on the Cache Engine-Network Module (CE-NM). The IP address that is specified in the router-list should be the default gateway for the CE-NM.

Configurations

This document uses these configurations:

  • Cache Engine: Web Cache Communication Protocol Version 2 (WCCP 2) and specifying Layer 2 (L2) redirection on the NM

  • 2600 Router: WCCP 2 redirection on the 2600 router

Verify

Certain show commands are supported by the Output Interpreter Tool (registered customers only) , which allows you to view an analysis of show command output.

  • show ip wccp web-cache detail—Displays statistics for only the first packet of a Layer 2 redirected flow, which provides an indication of how many flows, rather than packets, use Layer 2 redirection.
