Learn how to enable remote switched port analyzer (RSPAN) across a switch.

Recipe:
Before configuring an RSPAN session, you must define an RSPAN VLAN:
6509e-1(config)#vlan 111
6509e-1(config-vlan)#remote-span

For example, on the RSPAN source switch (6509e-1) you configure a session to capture traffic from an interface (gig 7/1) to RSPAN VLAN 111:
6509e-1(config)#monitor session 1 source int gig 7/1
6509e-1(config)#monitor session 1 destination remote vlan 111
6509e-1(config)#

On the RSPAN destination switch (6509e-2) you configure a session to capture traffic from RSPAN VLAN 111 to a SPAN destination interface (gig 2/1):
6509e-2(config)#monitor session 2 source remote vlan 111
6509e-2(config)#monitor session 2 destination int gig 1/2
6509e-2(config)#
