Q. What are the Cisco
® 3560 v2 and 3750 v2 Series Switches?
A. The Cisco Catalyst 3560 v2 and 3750 v2 Series are the next generation 10/100 switches with high-performance routing, advanced security, advanced quality of service (QoS), high availability, and ease of use. This series is fully backward compatible with the Cisco Catalyst 3750, 3750-E, 3560, 3560-E, and 2960 Series Switches. The Cisco Catalyst 3560 v2 Series are standalone switches, and the Cisco Catalyst 3750 v2 Series are stackable switches using Cisco StackWise
Q. What are the advantages of the Cisco Catalyst 3560 v2 and 3750 v2 Series over their predecessors, the Cisco Catalyst 3560 and 3750 Series?
A. The Cisco Catalyst 3560 v2 and 3750 v2 Series have several advantages over their predecessors:
• Compatibility with the Cisco Redundant Power System 2300 (RPS 2300): The new switches can fall back to their own internal power supplies without any service interruption, and the RPS 2300 can be managed using the new switches.
• Lower power consumption: The Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches consume up to 11 percent less power compared to their predecessors, at 50 percent PoE load. The non-PoE switches consume up to 14 percent less power compared to their predecessors, at 50 percent traffic load.
• Full EnergyWise support: You can monitor energy consumption and implement energy saving programs for a variety of applications.
• All switches have a uniform depth of 11.9".
• The Cisco Catalyst 3560 v2 Series includes a DC powered model.
Q. Will this series replace any existing Cisco Catalyst switches?
A. Yes, this new series will replace the Cisco Catalyst 3560 and 3750 10/100 Series Switches. The Cisco Catalyst 3560G and 3750G 10/100/1000 Series and the Catalyst 3560 8 and 12 port 10/100 Switches are not affected by this new series.
Q. Can the new series be used in a network with existing Cisco Catalyst 3560, 3750, 3560-E, and 3750-E Series Switches?
A. Yes, the Cisco Catalyst 3560 v2 and 3750 v2 Series are fully backward compatible and can be deployed in a network with Cisco Catalyst 3560, 3750, 3560-E, and 3750-E Series Switches. With Cisco StackWise technology, Catalyst 3750 v2 Series can seamless stack wtih Catalyst 3750 and 3750-E Series of stackable switches.
Q. Can the new series fall back to their own internal power supply without service interruption when powered by an RPS 2300?
A. Yes, the Cisco Catalyst 3560 v2 and 3750 v2 Series are capable of falling back to their own internal power supply without any service interruption after being powered by an RPS 2300.
Q. Is there a DC powered switch among the new series?
A. Yes, there is a Cisco Catalyst 3560 v2 24 port switch with a DC power supply. The Cisco Catalyst 3750 v2 Series does not have a DC powered switch.
Q. What are the PoE capabilities of the new series?
A. The PoE models are capable of delivering 370W of PoE power. This is sufficient for delivering 24 ports of Class 3 PoE (15.4W/port), or 48 ports of Class 2 PoE (7.7W/port). The intelligent power management features in the Cisco Catalyst 3560 v2 and 3750 v2 Series allow you to allocate specific amounts of PoE power on each port.
Q. Can the new series of switches provide ePoE to power the Cisco AP1252 802.11n WLAN Access Points?
A. No, the Cisco Catalyst 3560 v2 and 3750 v2 Series are not capable of delivering ePoE or more than 15.4W/port.
Q. Can the new series be preconfigured with a particular Cisco IOS
® Software release at the time of ordering?
A. Yes, the 3560 v2 and 3750 v2 Series can be preconfigured with a particular release of Cisco IOS Software at the time of ordering. This option eliminates the need to reload a specific Cisco IOS Software release during deployment, thereby reducing deployment time and cost. The Cisco IOS Software release to be preloaded can be selected from a list of supported Cisco IOS Software releases, including the crypto version.
Q. Does the new series change how the orders are placed?
A. Orders can be placed as usual. If the Cisco IOS Software release is not specified at the time of ordering, the switches will be preloaded with the default Cisco IOS Software release, which can later be updated.
Q. Is software activation or software licensing implemented on this series?
A. No, neither software activation nor software licensing is implemented on this series.
Q. Does this series have a limited lifetime warranty (LLW) or a standard warranty?
