PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS

Cisco Systems® recommends that all customers currently running Cisco PIX Firewall Release 5.3 upgrade their software to Version 6.0(x) or later.

512-KB/2-MB FLASH MEMORY UPGRADE

Flash requirements for Cisco PIX Firewall Software Release 6.0 are identical to those for Release 5.3. Customers with select 520 units must upgrade these units to a minimum of 16 MB in order to run the 6.0 software train. The Cisco part number PIX-FLASH-16MB= meets these requirements.
Cisco PIX Firewall 515, 525, and 535 units ship with 16 MB of Flash and are not affected. PIX 520 Firewalls manufactured after February of 2000, with serial numbers 18025677 and higher, are not affected. The Cisco PIX 501 and 506 have 8 MB of Flash memory, which works correctly with Version 6.0 of the software.

8-/16-MB RAM UPGRADE

RAM requirements for Cisco PIX Firewall Software Release 6.0 are identical to those for Release 5.3. Customers with PIX Firewall 501, 506, 515, 52X, or 535 units are not affected.
