This document describes how to restore CUIC publisher from CUIC subscriber in same cluster. This procedure can be used when customer does not have a valid CUIC backup or the backup is corrupted.
Ensure that all the information of CUIC publisher deployment like IP address, hostname, administrator credentials, security password, etc. is documented. If CUIC Publisher is accessible that needs to be rebuilt, you can get most of the information (except the security password) with these commands.
show status utils ntp status show version active show network eth0 detail show web-security
Shutdown the old CUIC publisher virtual machine (VM). It is recommended not to delete the old CUIC publisher VM until the new publisher is built.
Install a new CUIC publisher with the same (ip address, credentials) as on the old one.
Apply a correct license for CUIC.
Note: If License MAC ischanged, request a new license file.
Refer to the output of show version active taken previously to ensure CUIC publisher has all COP files installed before. Ensure that all subscribers have the same COP files applied.
In the publisher node OAMP add all subscribers.
Device Management -> Device Configuration -> Add Member. Specify subscriber name and its IP address.
On the publisher and the subscriber (chosen as a node from which you will restore) type this command.
utils cuic authorize_remote_node
Ensure that all nodes in the cluster are authenticated.
show network cluster
On the publisher node start the restore process with this command.
utils cuic restorepub
Reboot the publisher node.
utils system restart
Wait for all CUIC services on the publisher to start successfully.
Stop the database replication from the publisher.
utils dbreplication stop all
Wait for 5 minutes for process to be finished.
Reset the database replication with this command.
utils dbreplication reset all
Check the replication progress with this command.
utils dbreplication runtimestate
Note: CUIC database replication might take around 30 minutes to be completed. If the database is large and nodes are deployed over the WAN, the process might take a few hours so schedule your change window accordingly.
Reboot CUIC Publisher.
utils system restart
Warning: After CUIC publisher database is restored from a subscriber database, all schedulers configured will not work. In order to fix that, remove all the schedulers and configure them back.
