Cisco completes Accedian acquisition

Augmenting the continued evolution of Cisco's network/service assurance and performance management solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif. – On September 29, 2023 – Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) 

Today, Cisco has completed the acquisition of Accedian, a privately held company based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. As an industry-leading virtualized assurance platform, Accedian provides high-performance network and user experience monitoring across any application, any cloud, and any network.

Q: Why did Cisco choose Accedian?

A: With the Cisco Networking Cloud vision, Cisco is committed to simplifying IT to create better digital outcomes from unified experiences. CSPs and webscalers who take part in the unified experiences delivery value chain need robust assurance tools to be successful. Accedian complements and strengthens Cisco’s existing network assurance and analytics portfolio--its powerful service assurance technology combined with Cisco ThousandEyes assurance capabilities will provide the true end-to-end assurance required to enable unified experiences to users everywhere.  

Q: Why is now the right time to acquire Accedian?

With subscriber expectations on the rise and stringent performance requirements in place across the networks, CSPs and webscalers need real-time data and actionable insights to effectively assure their networks. Accedian provides the technology and capability that are truly differentiated in the market, providing microsecond level sensors that enable the fine-grained visibility required for operators to deliver the expected quality of services. 

Q: What product gaps is Cisco trying to address with this acquisition?

A: The addition of Accedian will enable Cisco to offer CSP focused solutions for service assurance.  Microsecond level sensors coupled with robust assurance analytics from Accedian will complement Cisco’s Internet for the Future carrier infrastructure and software solutions.    

Accedian customers should continue to use the existing process for support on installed Accedian products. Cisco will notify you in advance of any change to the support process.
