The IPHDU is intended for help desk personnel who need to know key elements about the implementation details about an IP telephone in a Cisco-based IP telephony environment but may not need access to the complete toolset provided by the CiscoWorks ITEM solution
Once installed, the IP Phone Help Desk Utility executes as an element in the Windows 2000 "tool band" at the bottom of the screen. It is available, at no additional charge, as a download from CCO. Once installed, the workstation-based applet can provide rapid access to information about an IP telephone that is defined by its extension number, IP address, or MAC address.
