CiscoWorks Security Information Management Solution 3.1 Introduces the Availability of the CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 Solution Engine
Cisco Systems® announces the availability of the CiscoWorks Security Information Management Solution (SIMS) 3.1. Designed for large networks, CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 collects and analyzes security events from Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), firewalls, operating systems, applications, and anti-virus system (AVS) devices. This security information is correlated statistically, evaluated according to defined security rules, and presented in real time by priority to administrators in a format that can be acted upon. CiscoWorks SIMS uses automation, intelligence, and simplification to increase productivity and reduce total cost of ownership while also increasing the security on the network. CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 adds multi-vendor capabilities to Cisco integrated network security solutions. Its award-winning features are based on netForensic's technologies.
CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 also provides add-on licensing options that offer additional security of the network. The Cisco Security Agent (CSA) licenses allow the customer to analyze events from the CSA Agents monitoring key security devices in the customer network. The low-tier device licenses can monitor low-tier event sources such as Cisco PIX 501/506, Catalyst 3000 family, Router 8xx-2600, Concentrator 3000 to 3030, Windows NT/2000 servers, Solaris, Linux, UNIX, AS/400, and Tripwire.
CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 also introduces a new, hardware-based solution engine option that provides the same features and functions as the CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 software on a dedicated appliance. The CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 Solution Engine requires minimal setup and installation.
The hardware based solution engine provides regional scalability for customers with small to medium deployments and the software only solution provides global scalability for larger deployments.
CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 features the following:
- Event monitoring of multivendor security environments.
- Extensive reporting for operators and high-level administrators.
- Risk assessment information to understand overall vulnerability of critical network assets within the enterprise.
- Forensics tools to investigate attacks.
- Event correlation for rapidly detecting emerging attacks that may not be apparent from a single event.
- Traffic utilization reports and graphs to understand changes in traffic patterns.
CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 helps focus security teams on real threats, providing them with both the information and tools needed to respond quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
Availability
The CiscoWorks SIM SIMS Solution Engine 3.1 will start shipping July 17, 2003. Customers can purchase this product through their normal sales channels beginning June 30, 2003. The CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 software-only release is currently available now to customers worldwide.
Ordering Information
