Functions in the Resource Manager Essentials module link Web-based management applications into the CiscoWorks2000 environment. Transparent to network performance, NetRanger Sensor devices analyze the content and context of individual packets to determine if the traffic is authorized. Cisco Network Registrar Domain Name System/Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DNS/DHCP) software provides the user registration services for CiscoAssure Policy Networking. The product's standards-compliant DNS server supports incremental zone transfers and dynamic updates. The multithreaded DHCP server also supports integration with directory services using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Version 3. | Cisco AS5800 Double-Density Modem Card | The new double-density modem card for the Cisco AS5800 universal access server provides 144 modem terminations, twice the capacity of the existing 72-modem card. Higher density for the AS5800 reduces the expense of equipment collocation fees in central offices as well as the overall cost of ownership and operation. The AS5800 double-density modem card uses the same Modem ISDN Channel Aggregation (MICA®) firmware as other Cisco AS5200, AS5300, and AS5800 products, which protects both capital and operational investments. |

| Catalyst 5509 | The new Catalyst® 5509 is a nine-slot switching system that protects Catalyst 5500/5000 series investments by seamlessly integrating all existing Catalyst 5000 series interface modules and features into a new, high-performance chassis. The Catalyst 5509 provides dedicated switching for up to 384 users, making this chassis an ideal platform for wiring-closet solutions. The product also supports up to 38 ports of Gigabit Ethernet for switched intranet backbones and data centers that require forwarding rates in the multimillions of packets per second. | Catalyst 2900 Series XL Version 11.2(8) SA3 | Software that supports port-based virtual LANs (VLANs) is now available as an upgrade for Catalyst 2900 series XL switches. This new software supports up to 64 separate intraswitch VLANs (no ISL trunking), forwarding packets only to those stations within a VLAN and creating a virtual firewall between VLANs. Each VLAN will run the Spanning Tree Protocol. The Cisco Visual Switch Manager software also has been enhanced to work with any standard Web browser to manage a collection of Catalyst 2900 series XL switches and to support a logical, stackable switch family. |

| Cisco 2612 and 2613 Modular Access Routers | The Cisco 2612 Ethernet/Token Ring and the Cisco 2613 Token Ring modular access routers bring multiservice solutions to Token Ring and mixed LAN environments. The Cisco 2612 features Token Ring and Ethernet LAN ports, while the Cisco 2613 has a single Token Ring port. All Cisco 2600 series platforms offer one network module slot, two WAN interface card slots, and one advanced integration module slot. | uBR904 Router and Cable Modem | The Cisco uBR904 router offers a cable modem for use by full-time telecommuters and small offices. The two-way cable modem receives downstream data at either 27 Mbps or 40 Mbps and transmits upstream data at either 2.5 Mbps or 10 Mbps depending on the transmission technique used. The Cisco uBR904 contains a four-port Ethernet hub for connecting user devices. The uBR904 offers the advantages of interoperability with other standards-compliant cable equipment and high transmission speeds to support internal networking and Internet access. |
| Cisco 3600 and 2600 Series Modular Access Router: 8-port and 16-port Analog Modem Network Modules | Two new analog modem network modules are now available for the Cisco 3600 and Cisco 2600 modular access router platforms. The cost-effective 8- and 16-port analog modem network modules support basic telephone service connections via an RJ-11 interface (supported internationally) at 33.6-kbps speeds. The network modules allow up to 16 remote analog modem users to connect to a Cisco 2600 or 3620, while up to 48 users can connect to a Cisco 3640 router. |
| Cisco 3600 Series Router: Mixed-Media Network Modules | Eight new mixed-media network modules for LANs and WANs are now available for the Cisco 3600 series modular access routers. Each module combines a single 10/100BaseTX Ethernet interface and a combination of one- or two-port ISDN PRI or Channelized T1/E1 interfaces. By integrating two of the most in-demand modules, the Cisco 3600 series delivers improved slot efficiency and increased port densities. Using these new network modules, the Cisco 3620 can support up to 30 digital modems and two ISDN PRI connections. The Cisco 3640 now supports up to eight ISDN PRI connections. |
| Cisco ConfigMaker: New Feature Support | Cisco ConfigMaker software now supports the Cisco IOS® Firewall Feature set; the Cisco 2600, 4500, and 4700 routers; voice modules; and asynchronous interfaces. In addition, a new user interface, extensive online help, task lists, and wizards guide users through addressing, connection, and security setup. For example, the Cisco ConfigMaker 2.1 Security Wizard can configure the Cisco IOS Firewall Feature set on any Cisco 1600 series or Cisco 2500 series router. The Security Wizard enables policy-based configurations for efficient setup of the Cisco IOS Firewall Feature set, which protects internal networks from intrusion and secures Internet connections. |
