Roadshow Promotes High-Speed Cable Internet ProductsRight now, a fleet of 28-foot trucks is bringing the latest cable products to shopping malls throughout the USA in "The Cisco Systems and @Home Network Cable Internet Revolution Expo." Visiting 12 cities in three months, the Cable Internet Revolution Expo is sponsored by Cisco Systems and @Home Network, along with several other vendors. The tour is expected to reach more than 360,000 consumers and demonstrates the innovative and practical ways the cable industry is making the Internet readily available and more applicable to everyday life."Bringing @Home directly to high-traffic malls allows consumers to see for themselves the rich experiences cable Internet services deliver to all members of the family, whether it's getting help with homework, keeping up with the latest news, weather, and sports, finding recipes, or purchasing gifts on line," says Dean A. Gilbert, Senior Vice President and General Manager for @Home Network.
New York Public Library Selects Cisco In the information age, libraries require sophisticated networks to ensure easy global access to their valuable collections. With more than 2.5 million electronic sessions initiated annually, and a projected growth rate of over 60 percent per year, performance and scalability are of critical importance to the New York Public Library (NYPL). For this reason, the NYPL, one of the world's largest libraries, has selected Cisco as its strategic supplier of network infrastructure equipment.
NYPL's enhanced network, built with Cisco Catalyst® LAN switches, LightStream® 1010 ATM switches, Cisco 7500 and 2500 series routers, and network management products, will allow new bandwidth-intensive applications to be accessible throughout the library and create a "virtual single site." For more information on the NYPL, visit the URL www.nypl.org.
