Cisco COMET Solutions

Today, optical fiber has become the principal transmission medium for high-speed public and private networks. Cisco Systems is dedicated to using the capabilities of fiber optics to provide much higher levels of service density that will lower the cost per bit delivered throughout the network, from the access point through the long haul.

Providing an extensive and scalable optical portfolio, the Cisco Complete Optical Multiservice Edge and Transport (Cisco COMET) product line delivers solutions to meet the unique requirements for evolving Metro Edge, Metro Core, Service Point-of-Presence (PoP), and Long Haul (LH) transport. Cisco's complete optical portfolio supports all optical restoration techniques, topologies, and transmission criteria through end-to-end provisioning; all services for maximum service density at the Metro Edge; all optical interfaces available at the service edge; and scalable, efficient optical transport from the Metro Edge through the long-haul network.

Cisco COMET brings together key innovations in photonics, packets, protocols, and provisioning to create scalable, service-rich networks that benefit enterprises and service providers worldwide.
