Cisco 12000

To meet service providers’ requirements for network protection and reliability, the Cisco 12000 product line will include ECC (Error Correction Codes) functionality for future designs. In the meantime, there are existing Cisco 12000 linecards in the field that do not have the ECC capability. This document explains the options customers have to upgrade their systems to new ECC hardware.

List of the current Cisco 12000 linecards that can be upgraded with the ECC functionality:

    GRP(=)
    GE-SX/LH-SC(=)
    GE-GBIC-SC-A(=)
    8FE-FX-SC(=)
    8FE-TX-RJ45(=)
    6DS3-SMB(=)
    12DS3-SMB(=)
    OC12/SRP-IR-SC(=)
    OC12/SRP-MM-SC(=)
    OC12/SRP-LR-SC(=)
Cisco offers the following upgrade plan:
    Technology Migration Plan(TMP):

For example, customers who request to upgrade GE-SX/LH-SC(=) boards, are automatically be upgraded to a GE-GBIC-SC-B(=) board. Technology Migration Program
