The recent series of denial of service
(hacker) attacks against high profile Web sites focused
the nation's attention on the issue of Internet security.
To address public concerns and improve their own understanding
of the issues involved, government leaders convened a series
of meetings and hearings to learn more. Every time the topic
turned to network security, our nation's leaders turned
to Cisco Systems.
President's High Tech Security Summit
On February 15, 2000, Cisco Chief Information
Officer Pete Solvik met with President Clinton and other
industry leaders to discuss information sharing and other
industry-led means to improve Internet security.
Joint House/Senate Judiciary Subcommittees
on Crime
On February 29, 2000, Cisco's Charlie Giancarlo
(SVP for small & medium business) testified before a
joint hearing of the House
and Senate Judiciary Committees Subcommittees on Crime ,
discussing the roles of law enforcement and industry in
policing and preventing cyber attacks.
